Hi I was wondering if anyone had good salads made with broccoli? There is this awesome one at the grocery store from the deli. I will find out what exactly is in it tomorrow so i can convert it to raw...but until I get back to everyone are there any suggestions? I know the one in the deli had broccoli and raisins.... im going to look in alissas book right now to see if i can find anything.

anyone in florida want a baby ferret? lol to a good home anyone? Id rather keep him than dump him at the pound or a pet store or just anyone. I worry that the new owner will grow tired of him and neglect him. I knew of a person with one and did that and the ferret broke his teeth off from chewing the cage wires out of depression and frustration. mine has even done that if i come in the room and dont let him out right away and i dont neglect mine. he is out of his cage 80-90% of the time. that incident he had just been in the cage a little longer stretch than usual. hes spoiled. I just got out of the hospital and just recovered enough to go back to work. its just a lot of work on me. i also have a dog i try to walk daily and cats to clean hairballs and litter box after along with reg. house chores cooking and cleaning.

no one wants a stinky needy ferret though so ill probably end up toughing it out and keeping him.

This one is my FA-VO-RITE broccoli salad recipe. I just made a big batch today, it's so tasty!

Broccoli Salad

Chop broccoli (small, medium, your choice)
Chop or grate carrots (or use chopped apples instead)
Chop little onion (your choice of color)
Add equal amounts of raisins and sunflower seed (or preferred nut)
1 cup each

Mix well, using roughly twice the amount of broccoli as carrot or apple.

For dressing I blend (in blender) one peeled orange, about 2 Tablespoons of olive oil and about 2 tablespoons of honey. Pour over, let sit for a bit, overnight is fine, but then, so is 15 minutes.

We love this and if I use enough seeds or nuts, I call it dinner at least one night a week.

You could also add celery, cauliflower, etc. Hope you like it.

Deb's notes: There are a couple secrets to this recipe. One is to use only the broccoli's flowers, not the stalks. If you use the stalks, it's very strong tasting. The second is to search out very flavorful oranges. I also use agave instead of honey (just a preference). I use the broccoli, grated carrots and onion combination.

It's actually an organic dressing I bought.

If I were to make it from scratch I would put:

Juiced Blueberries and Pomegranites
Apple Cider Vinegar
Olive oil
Herbs: dill, garlic, sea salt
