Tried two flavored nut recipes today. I think the recipes came from RFT. I wrote them down some time ago and now can't find the source. Too good not to share and give thanks to those that posted originally. Wherever you are....THANK YOU! :)

MAPLE WALNUTS

2 cups walnuts (soaked 12 hours, then dehyrated 24 hours, or until crispy)
2 T. maple syrup
sprinkle of cinnamon
sprinkle of pink salt

Toss all in a bowl and stir until walnuts are coated. Add more cinnamon and salt as desired. Dehydrate until crispy.

SPICY ALMONDS

2 cups almonds (soaked 12 hours, then dehydrated 24 hours, or until crispy)
1 T. olive oil
1 t. sea salt
1/4 t. cayenne
1 t. chili powder
1 t. garlic powder

Toss all in a bowl and stir until almonds are coated. Dehydrate until crispy.

Note: I made the spicy almonds in the same bowl after the walnuts, so the almonds also picked up a hint of maple. Soooo GOOD!

RawKnitster,

Thank you for posting the Spicy Almonds recipe. They just came out of the dehydrator this morning and they are delish! Hubby loves them too! The crunch they have is similar to eating roasted nuts and the flavor is awesome!

Blessings and peace,

Marcia

Yuuummm, these sound so good. I have a sweet tooth so I think I would like the sweet ones. Anyone tried any other sweet recipes? I had some cashews at my health food store that were glazed with maple I think it was but I think they were pretty unhealthy so I'd definitely like to try and make my own.

These sound great! Just want to be sure on the dehydrating details...do I coat the walnuts/almonds before dehydrating? Or do I soak, dehydrate, coat, and then dehydrate again?

Sorry...still learning.

Thanks!

I believe it would be soak, dehydrate, coat, and then dehydrate again. Soaking the nuts releases their enzyme inhibitors.

These sound good, like nuts that around a Christmas time or if you walk into any Cabela's.

Thanks.

Or do I soak, dehydrate, coat, and then dehydrate again?

That's right. That way you are sure to get a crispy crunch. :)
