i was wanting to do this for weight loss and toxin removal. the things that irk me are the cost ($80 for a gallon of maples syrup!?) and the fear of losing strength. i'm very much into olympic lifting. i do want to get rid of the toxins and fat, but i very much want to keep the muscle.

is there any way to do that? i was thinking of going on the cleanse for 3-5 days. would that be long enough to accomplish anything?

You can Fast as short as you like, you can even fast every other day. Just being RAW with Fresh Fruit and Vegetables is one of the Best ways to cleanse your body.

what do you mean by being raw?

would eating bananas and taking some rice protein mess with the effects of the cleanse?

i'm guessing you don't realize you are on a raw food forum. perhaps another forum will assist you better?

I don't believe you will loose muscle if you are keeping up with your weight program. If you are going to begin a raw food lifestyle, make sure you are eating enough if you are working out.

Detoxing will give you symptoms, and they range differently per person, not everyone has the same symptoms. Temporary muscle weakness may be mistaken, don't give up.

If you intended to be on this particular forum or not, I invite you to browse around, read some posts and also check our Alissa Press page (see box at left). You might find that you want to stay around and try the raw food lifestyle.

There are some threads here about weight lifting, exercise and athletes.
Also, there are smaller bottles of Grade B Maple Syrup in Health Food Stores for less than $20 and raw Agave is an option for substitution.

Good luck with your detox and weight loss.
