ive been dealing with ibs issues several years and have tried about every means of healing the ailment and have arrived at the conclusion that a long term rich liquid diet is whats best for most people with this problem . reason being is resting the g.i. tract from solids irritating it helps it to heal . plus without solids in the tract the body can more easily flush out internal pollution , and has more energy to do so because it is not using energy to digest any solid foods . and i say ' rich ' liquid diet as opposed to a juice / water fast because of the fact that it shall take long term / months long periods of no solids to tract heal and on the less rich water / juice fasts its too difficult for most to stay with it . but if you add nut / seed milks , heavy say V8 tomato type juices youve got more energy so can get in a groove and stay with it longer . and hopefully in 2 / 3 months heal . well thats it for now but i'll add more to this outlook later .

OP: Just curious, have you tried a gluten free diet?

auxi if by gluten you mean wheat ive been raw over 3 years , and totally wheat free . and before raw was a whole food vegan since 94 eating very healthfully including alot of homemade wheat bread . then like about 5 years ago i seriously started tinkering with that whole mostly cooked vegan diet of mostly drybeans/rice/boiledpotato/bread/plus raw things / water , including many month spans of no wheat with no improvement .

hi Roman,
I would love to dive into this a bit with you. I am in a similar situation and have chronic GI imbalance. It is so funny to read this this morning because in the last few days the same conclusion came to me. I have been thinking...all blended food and juicing
My only hesitation is that I am registering for a very intense 10 week mountaineering class beginning in april that will include many overnight summits.
But let's talk. I just posted up on this topic in "3 years raw...considering the drugs"

I mean gluten free (wheat, oats, rye, barley, derivatives..). There is a difference between wheat free and gluten free. Maybe you could try a gluten free diet for a week and see if you improve. I have been gluten free for almost five years now so if you decide to do it, and you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

auxi ive been totally gluten free over 3 years besides an occasional cheat several times a year on a bowl of oat bran . oh and recently ive been playing around with sprouted wheat beries but theres been stretches of 8 months with no gluten or cheats . and when i do cheat its just a one bowl meal to get the craving out of my system . i can say im %99.9 sure gluten is not my problem . thanx for the help :)

i have no idea why i thought you were fasting. duh?!?!
liss and i are huge believers in this as well. we both are really resonating with doing liquids for extended periods of time and i love the idea of having some nut mylk tossed in once in a while as well. i'm guessing you are removing the pulp? yes? no?

AHA  = IVE NOT GOTTEN TO ACCUPUNCTURE YET :)
and no im not recalling replete but i may have bought that on line ,
i'll check into that . thank you
but im thinking accupuncture to releive stress could help .
a big reason being is that til age 33 i was a kinda heavy
drinker , 4 nights a week ide get my 3 to 20  beer
buzz on  but for past 17 years havent drank so
ive lost that safety valve feature of alchohol to blow off steam with .
so mabe the steam has built up and accupuncture can release it .

funny....i spent my decade of drinking as well!!
we played now we pay??? good thing the way I play now acutally pays me!!
Stopped drinking 4 years ago. whew! I'm 35 and so grateful
Roman I am an acupuncturist, in my eighth year of practice.... yes that decade included my wee teen years!! I see tremendous results with IBS and acupuncture. Really look into it.
Unfortunately, in the case of parasites......still learning! I have finally found a guy practicing in Portland who specializes/lectures on this topic I was so supposed to see him speak last november but it was cancelled and am currently reading his work before I approach him directly so that I don't waste his time.
but IBS has a ton more research and clinical success with chinese medicine. If you find someone connected and competent, I am confident that you will see results If you have any questions please let me know.

well i went and saw dr sun friday , very cool women .
the acupuncture was great . she made like a cross shape of pins on my upper abdomen , some on my inner wrists , some in shins , and also feet .
then i layed in room alone like a half hour with melow piano music
and the heat on nice and toasty
doc came in like every 10/15 minutes and sorta spun the needles ,
i dont know because i was just laying there with my eyes closed
near sleep :eek::p
then she used some kinda warming tool , yes my eyes were still closed
so dont know , to heat the pins . the heat felt good going into body .
then i turned over and she put pins in my back . like along the spine and
back of lungs . so after the back pins she used menthol type
like vasoline / oil to massage back , while also doing some chopping type
hits , and like elbows deep into spinal area . very relaxing .
a very nice treatment . though no improvement with stomach .
she says itll take several sessions to see progress , but at $75 per - while
her office also being a bit of a drive from my home im not sure if
i'll return . but to anyone in the macomb / oakland county area ide recommend dr sun , shes very courteous and has a nice clean office building .

shoot roman....this is the unfortunate truth.....for complex/chronic issues you would need a series of treatment. most likely, especially with the addition of appropriate herbs you would begin to see some remarkable change within 6-8 visits.
did she give you a prognosis or recommended a long term treatment plan???
did you talk about herbs???
i'm glad you had a good experience and the warming technique was moxa which i was discussing with davy on the acupuncture thread
one visit is not enough to recover years of imbalance....what are your thoughts??
michigan roman
02-07-2009, 10:49 PM
no prognosis and nothing about herbs .
i think 2 things factored into that , one is
doc doesnt speak the best english so i think
shes kinda shy and speaks less . two is i
was the last patient on FRIDAY so she mighta
been in a hurry at the end of treatment to get off work :D
yes i see what your saying about chronic condition
and long term treatment . its just that without any
other conversation such as herbs , and the idea of spending
like $600 in a month then more beyond has me seriously
hedging .
maybe shes gonna call me this week is her plan ,
maybe shes taking time and thinking case / plan
over because shes like the person of very few words
and more so thinking type .
i'l wait to see if she calls this week before i decide .

it's kinda like fasting my friend... it didn't take one day to get into your system, takes longer than one day to leave.
(((hugs))) here's to a nice lotto win to pay for your treatments!

hey, hope you don't mind me jumping in with my opinion
i've digestive issues as well so I really feel for you
before I found out about raw there was a period when I was determined to cure my issues with chinese medicine+acupuncture (I'm against meds)
don't get me wrong, I'm not against them or anything but after diligently taking medicine and having acupuncture once a week for a about 3~4 mths
with my idea of a 'good' diet then I was forced to the conclusion that they are more for acute symptoms than chronic ... They worked all right to alleviate my symptoms but I realized it wasn't improving. The doctor didn't want to admit it but had to take me off chinese medicine becuase they're not supposed to be taken for more than 3 months straight, it really strains your liver. So towards the end I was growing worse because of liver problems.
Acupuncture is really great when you're in pain but it's just temporary relief.
Well, that's my view but doesn't mean what didn't work for me won't work for others. Besides, you're raw :D I can't help thinking if I had been raw then, things might have turned out differently. So if you feel this is working for you, I hope you go for it and get better!! Just thought I'd to tell you about my experience because as you said, this is pricey...
