No I have never heard of it before. Sometimes our Bodies will take a dotour and seem to do Strange things. Keep a diary when this happens so you will remember WHAT happenen When it Stops. What I am saying is It will stop and you Will forget. That's just the way I have found things to be. Thanks for Sharing your Story someone might drop by to impart more needed information. I just have Wisdom.

I think keeping a diary is always a good idea. It helps me see which foods/medications cause certain symptoms & has solved a few "mysteries" for me. Although I completely fell off the wagon for several months recently, I am back to daily tracking on the diary I have kept since I first started raw. Reflecting back, I can see how my eating habits and supplements affect the way I feel & other changes.

Regarding hives: Google "menstrual hives." Here's what I found at dermadoctor.com: ...ovarian hormonal effects (some women experience hives (due) to the progesterone surge during their menstrual cycle)...

This happens to me too! I went to an allergist and it turns out that I have a severe allergy to dust mites. I take an anti-histamine twice a day. And yes, I only get them when I'm getting my period. My doctor said that this happens to about 25% of his female patients.

Mine were HUGE by the way. Enormous welts. I was so miserable. But now, its all good.:D

If that is you in your avatar, then we are also both African-American/Black. I don't know if this means anything, but you could ask your doctor.

So, go to your doctor and get a referral to an Allergist. S/He will give you an allergy test so that you will find out what is bothering you and give you the proper course of treatment.

Let me know what happens!

if it helps in the meantime....vitamin C is a natural antihistamine, but you have to take ALOT. Like 5000mg in one sitting and you may need to do it more than once.

I use homeopathy for things like this...but vitamin C can be wonderful. Even EmergenC would work....but that's 5 packets!

Looks like you may have already identified when (and probably why) you get hives.
Wild Yam (available at Whole Foods and most HFS) may help if you start taking it a couple of days before you generally expect hives to come.
