Well, going to this lifestyle going out to eat has a whole new outlook. First of all eating at home is more enjoyable, your choices on the menu are very silm, and most of the time you end up paying about $10 for a salad. I end up eating at Panera most of the time when I do go out. Also when restuarnts do have salads on the menu they always have meat and cheese.

There is a resturant about 1 hour from me that serves an all raw meal on Wednesday nights. I have been to it once and it was a nice treat. I am not aware of anything else like that around me.

The thing of it is that I really do not go out to eat that much. I will go out with my husband or friends. I enjoy the social aspect of it.

Yes it is the Social aspect ot it because it is SO much cheaper to eat at home. But there is Always someone who wants to go out, sometimes I will go, when a friend just want to make a stop but if I don't feel the need, I won't eat. They know me well and they don't make that fuss about....aren't you going to eat somethin.......

I have recently come to realize that salads are WAY overpriced. At the local raw cafe I can make a HUGE salad with all of the sprouted things in the world and organic tomatoes and all of this stuff with an organic raw asian dressing all for under 5 bucks.

I coerce all of my family to go there. Taking my mom and her friend at lunch today actually... mmmm

I have not found too many places around me that have good salads, the only place I can find/have them make a raw salad is the Cheesecake factory. their menu is so BIG that they have millions of things I can ask them to put in a salad. Problem is, my boyfriend doesnt like anything there except for the overpriced pizza! LOL............we dont get out much, or I just suck it up and we go where he wants and I eat before, And usually after, On the way home, when we go!

Lori Ann - They have their "Vegetable Chopped Salad" And the "Factory Chopped Salad"... Take out what isnt raw, and add from the stuff in the other salads! They make it AWESOME!!! I dont even have to explain!, I just tell them I dont like some of the stuff and they substitute it! The vegetable chopped comes with some Cheese, I tell them im deathly allergic to cheese and they NEVER mess up! LOL. Sometimes going for the "I dont want cheese" doesnt work, and it comes with cheese. so I just go in for the kill and tell them I will die if they put it anywhere near my salad.... that way it sticks in their head and they dont screw up! LOL ... I do that with a lot of stuff! I HATE pickles, and when I ate SAD and got a veggie burger at a diner or something I would tell them I was allergic to pickles and I would die if one was anywhere near my food, I once also told a waiter that if they mess up and put a pickle on my plate they can't just take it off they have to make a new meal because Im sensative to the smell of pickle Juice!!!! LMAO... he was like "OK MAM, DONT WORRY" he looked so scared and nervous! hahahaha. oh thats mean of me..................whatever, I didnt get a pickle or pickle juice on my plate!!! LOL

I never order what's on the menu. I always custom order what I want based on the ingredients available. I'm not going to sit there & pick off meat or cheese or anything else. Not to mention you're probably going to end up eating some of that because it rubs off onto other things.

Cheesecake Factory is great because I can ask for 20 things & they actually give you a gigantic bowl instead of a tiny one. It's very satisfying. Never met anyone who doesn't love that place, though for the unhealthy food. Still would much rather be at my home or someone else's than out.

I keep a list of websites and restaurants in my area and what raw items they have so I know in advance.

sarahrjm,

You crack me up :) I have been lucky so far and no one has messed things up for me. I will be ready to go my next trip to Cheesecake Factory.

I love Panera, too. There's also this awesome little place in my area that has a HUGE selection of yummy veggies and you walk up to the window and tell them what you want. I mean they have every raw veggie you can imagine and then some. Luckily my husband likes it, too!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I plopped down $35 bucks in Cafe Gratitude the other evening and I thought the same thing. The food was good and I also had some gourmet selections, but I still felt like I wasted my money. It doesn't appeal to me as much to eat out when I can make yummy salads & raw foods at home. I like to go out and and socialize, but I find I just love preparing my own food moreso. Plus it's much more cost effective.
