Anyone had any experience with this book? I have a couple of raw acquaintances who swear it's easy and great....

I actually have the book and have read the whole thing.....it takes last out of ALL the raw food books I have and I have quite a few. Of course it could be first on someone elses list. I'd check it out before buying it.

I've not heard much about it, either. You could do a banana search to see if anyone has reviewed it previously.

He has some recipes posted over on Gone Raw that I found all to be extremely meh.
Also I am personally highly put off by his constant hawking of his wares on various raw communities.

Anyway, as far as the book goes, I have never heard anyone refer to it or speak of it in any positive way. There are tons of books you see people mention all the time - just not this one.

Have you read Alissa's Book, Living on Live Food? Check it out on the left side of this page, you are also able to read portions of her Book.

I bought it through Amazon and it's the only book I ever returned to them. $20 was too much for chop a carrot, chop a pepper, put it in a cabbage leaf. Put this on top of that and you have Baklava. Blend this and spread it on lettuce and you have a sandwich.

Everything other sentence is "blend it up in your Blend-Tec". I don't have anything against Blend-Tec, but that's what he sells on his website and it feels like he's constantly hawking it. He drops brand-names a lot, as if that's the only thing you can use. Seems like every recipe has Hawaian white miso in it.

He many times says something like use the spaghetti sauce from the lasagna recipe, but gives no reference to where that's found, so you have to go thumbing through the book. You find it, go back to the what you're trying to make, and now he says use the cheese sauce from the macaroni and cheese recipe. There you go thumbing through again.

I didn't find his writing style very readable. After listing the ingredients, instead of steps in recipes, it would go something like this:

Mix up the Hawaian white miso with the Brand XXX honey, but only 1/2 of it and put that with the oatmeal almond paste from the oatmeal cookie receipe (you'll be using this a LOT!). Put all of that in Your Blend-Tec and throw in some Maine sea vegetables. Using your Brand XXX Mandolin, slice a turnip, spread the mixture from Your Blend-Tec and sprinkle with the rest of the Hawaian white miso. Pour the sauce from the pasta alfredo recipe over everything. Another variation of this is to wrap the mixture from Your Blend-Tec with the turnips and then use the cheese from the cucumber dill cheese bites, but blend it up in Your Blend-Tec first.

And yes, I am put off by his constant boasting about himself (I'm getting a TV show, I'm the only raw chef who's ever done this, I've made lots and lots of money, I'm going to publish my biography so you learn how I made lots and lots of money so you can do it to.)

Did I mention I didn't like it very much? :D

Hah...I guess you didn't like it much huh? :) I'm going to have to look through it...and yes, I agree about the self promotion...very off-putting.

I have been using Ani Phyo's book and watching some of her videos on You Tube...so we shall see. "Raw Revolution" is another book I'm told is worth checking out.

If you mean "RawVolution" then I wouldn't count on too much. After trying his onion bread and cheese sticks, I'm done with Matt Amsden for a while. That may be because I don't really do raw but, those recipes just were not to my liking at all.

Also Ani Phyo's book and of course Alissa's.

The person may have been talking about Cherie Soria's book called The Raw Revolution Diet. I have it and it is very, very good.

Well, that's one person's opinion. Many here DO like it, including myself. Two things I do differently, cut the Nama Shoyu and the garlic. Matt LOVES his salt and garlic. ;)

I agree with the above, I always cut nama shoyu in half when making Rawvolution recipes. Matt's salad recipes are awesome as are his soups! And the onion bread just needs tweaking to meet your own personal tastes, my mom and sister-in-law (semi raw and not at all raw respectively) both love it!

As for Raw in Ten I don't have it, but I do have his newest book and it's kind of a joke. Definitely trying to sell things, nothing complicated, he uses things that look like things but would not taste like them at all. Etc coconut meat (for egg) and papaya (for yolk). I'd rather make a scramble with nuts, veggies, and turmeric so it looks and tastes like the real thing.

I have to disagree. :) That onion bread is the one raw recipe I know I'll come back to again and again.

Meh, maybe I'm not cut out to be a raw fooder then? Very possible.

Yes, that's the book with assistance from Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis or at least Brenda- she is very knowledgeable and well thought of in the vegetarian/vegan community in Canada.

i enjoy RawRevolution mostly for the pictures because they inspire me to create my own variations of the recipes! i think he uses LOoOoOTs of Nama Shoyu so i never put that much.. but i like the book

I enjoyed Ani Phyo's book and want to get RAW for 1 or 2 People (or something like that)- wonder if that's any good!

I have Brian Au's Raw in 10. The recipes are OK. I tried the macaroni and cheese and I like the sauce which I have used to make other things from, but the "macaroni" made out of sweet potatos didn't quite work right. Also, I think most of the recipes require more than 10 minutes to prepare.

I recently purchased The Raw Revolution Diet book and I LOVE it. I haven't tried the recipes yet, but they look promissing.

My fav is still Alissa's book.:)

Oh, I have this book, too. Hmm.. all the recipes seem to have the same ingredients:
Rosemary
Basil
Miso

So, if you need one basic recipe and want 87 ways to serve it, it's an okay book...

I just watched this guys video and read his book (thankfully I didn't pay for it). I was hoping for some new quick recipes to add to my menu, but this was a joke really.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.
How someone would want to publish this is beyond me.

The best thing about the video is that he invites people "from the street" to try his food, and none of them are impressed with it. I love the comment on his strawberry cream pie: "It taste like a smoothie" :D
Other than that, it's pretty much just an attempt to get people to buy his book and other products. More of a commercial really.

As if that isn't enough, this guy tries to have bad review removed from Amazon and it seems like he's faking some good ones himself.

I usually don't bash people like this. But I just don't want people to waste their money on his products, when there's hard working honest people in the business who deserve it a lot more.

Two thumbs down.

Hey, don't say that! We are ALL 'cut out' to be raw foodists, it's how our physiology was created to be. There are no digestive tracts that are meant to consume cooked, dead 'food'.

Plus, being negative will surely bring you back to crappy food. Just play around with the recipes! I have to change recipes all the time to make them to my liking, everyone has their own preferences!

I like it. Very easy, simple recipes for ~ 1 or 2 people. If you like them, can always double/triple the recipe but nice to have small quantities to see if ya likes 'em.
