View Full Version : Iron supplement
Hello ~ My iron level remains low (blood work). My doctor has recommended various OTC supplements that so far have not raised the level. The last I took was ferrous gluconate.
Does anyone have experience with this? I'd appreciate any feedback.
His last recommendation is dessicated beef liver caps - ack. I'll keep lookin' - ha. *Ü*

ferrous gluconate is one of the better absorbed forms of iron, it is even more so when taken together with a vit. C source-usually I recommend supplements, but for rawbies, fresh citrus works just as well if not better. and dark greens and beets are also great sources of iron. sometimes extra protein helps, too.
Thank you michigan roman and oceanluv for your kind replies.
I may be on the right track then as I started green juicing since my last doctor's visit and use a lot of dark greens daily in that.
I was coupling the ferrous gluconate with Vit. C as per my dr's recommendations and I was still low.. Who knows how long I've been low, I suspect for quite some time.
I will try adding in sea veggies, I tossed in a sheet of nori tonight with my sprouted quinoa salad. Thank you both for helping out, I appreciate it! *Ü*

I was taking a liquid iron supplement that helped me. You should be able to find it in a health food store.

I agree with the Dark Greens, Kelp and Dulse. Try drinking Green Smoothies, sweet and simple.

I agree with everything that's been said.
When I have been anemic, which has been often, sadly, over the years - to the point of not even being able to trudge my way up stairs for lack of energy - I have taken Floradix (a liquid, available at the HFS) and it's fixed me right up.
Thank you RawSAr, spicyfull and HolyGuacamole ~ I've gotten so much good information!
I would sure rather take the liquid iron like Floradix than the beef liver caps.
Thank you to everyone that helped me with this issue. *Ü*

The only iron supplement that ever work for me was the angstrom size one. Just google. It doesn't leave deposit in your blood stream and your body do utilise it. David Wolf has some good one but they are expensive, just google. I like water OZ.
Best research
p.s Check your B12 level and vitamin D level. Low B12 will lead to low iron. Since that i use 3elive, and eat so much greens , i don't have to supplement anymore.
Thank you Raw Angel Mom ~ I will Google what you have suggested as well. I'll ask my doctor about rechecking my B12 and D when he checks my iron next time - thank you!
Back later to add ~ I see that Gabriel Cousens has Iron (Angstrom) (https://awakenedshoppe.com/product.php?productid=329&cat=0&page=1) for sale at his Culture of Life Center. I have an email into them asking for more information. *Ü*
