All "colds" are forms of detox. There's nothing to "fight" ~ it's about allowing and assisting the cleanse to happen. Citrus is good because it breaks up the congestion. For sinus infection, get some GSE, dilute it muchly in warm water, and snort.

I actually find that carrot juice helps a lot.
I read an article a few years ago about how the body uses vitamin A to fight viruses and that it is another vitamin good for colds in addition to vitamin C.

2 questions: So a cold isnt a virus you catch? Its your body detoxing? Why do you catch colds from family and friends you've been around then? Maybe I understood you wrong
Also, what does GSE stand for?

I'd also like to know what Revell meant (why does the quote say it's by solarliving?)
I believe you get a cold when your immune system is weak which allows the cold virus or whatever to infect you, if you keep your immune system strong and get plenty of vitamin D from sunlight you should not get colds. Even if I'm around people with a cold I never "catch" it.

No, "colds" aren't viruses you "catch".
IF your system is clean, where will the "virus" reside? What IS a virus anyway? something marketers dreamed up to sell their products? Maybe.
I've explained this numerous times here but, here it is again:
Since we've basically treated our bodies as toxic waste dumps, things (viruses/bacteria, whatever) come in to assist with the cleanup. It's the toxic waste dump that needs to be dumped, then, there'll be no need for the scavengers to come in and eliminate.
It's like a forest fire. You have a fire, firemen come in to clean up. The firemen are not the problem. The fire is. The scavengers are trying to do what the firemen do. Clean up our mess.
When someone has an excess of viruses/bacteria in their body, you show up with your toxic waste dump, voila! More food to clean up!
The body then tries to eliminate and we try to stop the elimination by "fighting" the virus/bacteria instead of eliminating the fire (cleaning up the toxic waste dump) which the body does quite well actually. There are ways to assist and one is to stop adding more waste by eating.
It's funny though. Last time I was going through a detox, all I wanted to do was eat.

"It's not the virus, it's the terrain." Sorry, I don't know where that quote came from. I take that to mean "catching" the virus is when the terrain it lands on was not able to defend itself.
My husband, daughter, and several friends have suffered from a dreadful virus that is going around this season. It is impossible that this virus did not land on me, yet I did not "catch" it.
It's got to be all the alkaline foods I eat (and they don't). I give special credit to citrus, greens, onions, and garlic for keeping me virus-free. No virus can multiply in an environment like that.

Research a neti pot. It is a little teapot looking device that allows you to rinse out your sinuses with some saline. Many people find relief from sinus headaches and allergies by using the neti pot.

Just as Revvell says, germs and bacteria are the clean-up crew that feed on the toxic waste products in our bodies which are there because of poor diet choices. Germs and bacteria are our friends! They are not something to be exterminated by drugs. Clean-up your diet and lifestyle and you will rarely if ever get a cold.
Of course this brings up another topic. When I have said the above to people that have a cold or flu, they say..."but I have a healthy diet. I eat lean meats like chicken and turkey, and have fish once a week. And I always get a salad with my Big Mac and Coke!" When you tell them that diet is not healthy they look at you like you have two heads.

A balanced diet and lifestyle remains the key to a healthy immune system. High-fat diets decrease immune function, while extremely low levels of dietary fat also lower a person's immunity. The lack of carbohydrates can also disturb several parts of the immune system. When you contract a cold or the flu, there are foods that are said to aid in the recovery, and could even prevent these illnesses in the first place. Foods, such as garlic, lemon, ginger, chicken soup and chilies which have been known for ages to help to shorten the flu bug's life span. But there are other magical foods too, like oysters, pork, blueberries and chocolate which can help you heal in no time. Let's take a closer look at them.

Let's take a closer look at this raw vegan site where we don't promote the use of animal products of any kind. Please read the mission statement. I don't think oysters, pork and chocolate are really "miracle" foods. Now blueberries on the other hand...

I second Revvell's comments. Also, if gamel means raw cacao, then that's legit. All colds and flus are is the response of the immune system. The body itself raises internal temperature to get rid of a foreign invader. The body creates and expels a lot of mucus to extinguish the bacteria or virus. The body makes you feel sleepy or weak so you'll sleep more and let it do what it needs to do. No virus causes that. The duration of the sickness is just the amount of time the body needs.
I remember years ago when I was eating the SAD how many times I would get sick. Easily 6 to 10 times a year. After deviating off of that I get sick approximately once a year. That is because my body is cleaner and can take care of foreign invaders much easier than it could have in the past.
By taking prescription/non-prescription medication, all that people are doing is extending the life of the illness. The body needs to do all of these things (which many of us see as symptoms) to clean itself out. By working against your body, nobody wins.
As another fun fact, I remember taking medications a long time ago and thinking that my cough breaking up or my sinuses clearing up, etc was the work of the medication. Now that I don't take medication, I realize that my body actually does all of those things but much quicker.

"It's not the virus, it's the terrain." Sorry, I don't know where that quote came from.
Pasteur said its the germ not the terrain. He was convinced that it had nothing to do with the environment. However on his deathbed he declared the terrain is everything but everyone had already accepted his germ being the "thing" theory and he was ignored.
I was at a chiropractic conference last weekend and one of the speakers spoke of this so it was fun to see this post. The speaker was saying that western medicine had gotten it all wrong way back and they were trying to kill the germ, find a "cure" (read medicate) for diseases. All you need to do is make sure the immune system(the environment) is strong and the germ won't grow.
Does the sloughy(is that a word!) pond make the mosquito or does the mosquito love the standing(there) water.

Maybe she just copied and pasted that without reading it?
Anyway -
Garlic, lemon and ginger are in my cold remedy which is really powerful. I add cacao to it if the patient has a cough, as it is said to relieve coughing.
chicken - can't remember what's in that, that is supposed to help, but when I used to have it, it never helped me!
chillies - cayenne is in my remedy
oysters - probably listed for their zinc. which is also in rasperries, pumpkin seeds, mushrooms, pine nuts, sprouted lentils, leafy greens.
pork - no idea why thats listed!
blueberries - great for you but raspberries are better for colds. more C and Zinc.
chocolate - use raw cacao.
Chicken and pork and other meats are high in many nutrients, they're a concentrated food. However those don't seem to help colds - a lot of people find when they switch to a vegan diet that they completely stop getting cold and flues. Before I became vegetarian I used to get chest/throat infections 6 times a year. The second I stopped eating meat, the infections stopped, I haven't had one since. I still get colds and flue, however I have an immune disorder (which is why I got all the infections). My experience is very common.
