I don't know if this is the proper Section of the forum. Sorry if it is not!

I am planning on creating an independent study for the second semester (senior in high school) on Holistic Health/Wellness. I am SO excited and I have been coming up with a few ideas myself.
I just wanted to inquire and see if anyone has any more ideas. It doesn't have to be exceptionally official or anything, even just an exploration of an area.

My main focus will be nutrition, but...
In brainstorming, I came up with a few ideas (although they are not definite or completely thought out yet)
-Work/volunteer/observe at a local alternative health center (I foung one in my town! and I just called to see if I can do this so I thought it might be good to incorporate into my study)
-Explore healing power of hand drumming (I received a little healing drum for Christmas from my mother and I learned a few african drumming beats last year from a nice dreadlocked drummer named Kapr :p) And I was thinking of holding a little drumming circle or something in school because I have to do things like that to be assessed.
-Do a yoga demonstration for part of an underclassmen gym class.
-Primarily nutrition and the effects food has on the body and overall wellbeing.
Maybe I could even interview a raw food doctor! That would be awesome.

I am still thinking so please share your ideas!

Thank you!

Volunteering at the alternative health center sounds good. You could learn and report on a lot from that experience.

Perhaps as a sub-topic of study, "The importance of Diet to Wellness" OR "The Affects of the Raw Eating Lifestyle on Health."

You can prepare a report after reviewing the literature (Green for Life, etc) of study findings and testimonies. Perhaps you can have a raw foodist do a presentation or an interview and you can demonstrate the preparation of a raw dish.

Is there a deadline for submitting your topic or plan for approval?

Your high school allows you to do things like yoga without being persecuted? You must not live in the south.

Sigh, a year and a half more until I move back to SoCal

Thank you!
oo reserching Natural Hygiene would be perfect, Emma!

And I agree with setting up a topic such as "the importance of diet to wellness...that's perfect. I can even take a look at a couple of different cultures and how their eating habits affected the people overall. Thank you livin!

Jurence, lol no I don't live in the south. I live in a homogenous little town in the Northeast, where you must wear uggs and abercrombie in order to have friends, lol. I don't know really know that my school would not think I was a freak, haha...I think they already do. But I am very quiet so they don't make fun of me much, at least not to my face.
I think it is more that I just do not really care much what they think. I mean, at times I do, but then I think about it and realize that it only really matters how I feel about myself. Ohhh California. That is where I wanted to go to college, but its not feasible at this time so I am opting for florida instead lol. At least I'll get my Vitamin D! :)
