I want to do a green smoothie feast for 3 months, because it is the only way I can TRULY make sure I am 100% Raw.
I am succumbing to Fast Food eating in the past week and I don't like where I am heading. Basically, I am a huge emotional eater. I eat when I am feeling bored, or lonely. And I need to stop this cycle.
Anyways...
This is what I would like to know, besides fruits and veggies, are are some supplemental things have you added into your smoothies in order to get more nutrients and/or carbs, protein, or fats. Plus, maybe to boast your immune system, detox, or heal your body.
Also, can you discuss any spiritual journeys while Green Smoothie Feasting. I think the reason why I have failed at this in the past is because after Day 2, I feel weird not eating food. I don't like my smoothies thick where you can chew it. I like it it be thin enough to sip with a straw for some reason. Drinking smoothies can be done in about 5 to 10 minutes for me. Eating can be a 20 to 30 minute ordeal. So I feel like I have "so much time left" from the GSF that I don't know what to do with myself after I am done consuming the GS! So I desire to snack. When i think of snacking, I think of un-Raw foods.
I know that spiritually and emotionally I will have to de-program myself on how I will think of food while doing the Green Smoothie Feast.
Oh, yes...if anyone has a Green Smoothie blog, please post for inspiration.

Yeah, I want to do smoothies because I am starting to get all flustered on how to make my salads different from the day or days before.

right! and since our bodies assimilate the chorophyll better from the smoothies that equals more benefits!!

Also, I know I have up'ed my salt intake by eating raw in salad form, because I make my own dressing. Of course I add other herbs and spices, but salt is that thing that gives everything that special touch.
Doing smoothies will eliminate using salt for every meal dealing with vegetables.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and bought 5 bags of spinach, a bag of nectarines, large piece of ginger, raw agave, avocado oil, coconut oil, tomatos, 3 garlic bulbs.
It is 230 AM and I am getting ready to go to bed.

I've been seriously considering doing green smoothie until dinner then end the day with a salad (got to chew). Can I join you even if I am eating at dinner time?
Blessings,
Heather

Sure. Try a smoothie for one meal at least for 2 months, then see if you can replace for 2 meals after that. Take it slow.
Update: This is day #4 and I have lost 4 lbs! Of course this has to me some water weight, because doing smoothies has made me not consume a lot of salt.
I must confess. I can't do a green smoothie for all 3 of my meals, because it is too sweet with me adding in the fruit. I need a non-sweet liquid meal. So I think for lunch will continue to make a Gazpacho or some other form of vegetable pureed soup that is spicy. I can do Greens smoothies for breakfast and dinner though.
I ran out of Gazpacho. I am thawing out some frozen broccoli and cauliflower to make a soup of some sort. Blended broccoli and cauliflower doesn't sound appealing yet. I will ask the board if they have tried this sort of thing.

I just started a Green Smoothie Feast this morning. I started a blog also hoping that doing so will force me to take some type of accountability.
I wish all of us LUCK!

I agree about getting the chlorophyll by eating GS.
I wanna add more GS to my diet but haven't yet b/c I am so lazy about preparing my food. I'm going to get with it soon though!

Ok, I started this day by making my blenderful of GS and will drink this until dinner times. And if I run out and am hungry (which I doubt) I will make myself some more GS. Then I will be having a large salad for dinner. My daughter even joined me for a glass this morning. I like that I don't have to think about what to eat during the day this way ... I just get up and load up the VitaMix and voila, food for the day! Hope you all have a great GREEN day!
Blessings,
Heather

Lots of people do what they call "SAVORY green smoothies" (not sweet), I've tried a couple of recipes but haven't found one I like yet, but there are recipes floating around out there. Check out the recipe section ... awhile back someone posted lots of GS variations.

What a coincedence!
I have basically been on a GS "feast" for 2 weeks or so now. I've been having over 80oz a day (broken up 2x-3x day) and a spinach salad, with avacado at lunch.
It wasn't an intention, all happened by accident really. I became addicted to GS versus the desire for any foods/wanting to prep any food, that I not only started my day with 30+oz, but ended my day as well.
Now my energy, skin, mental alterness, not to mention the inches that are lost...have been so off the charts that I'd like to step it up or stay on track with this group here.
Trust that once you start implementing GS's into your daily "diet" your cravings for anything else will be non existent.
Here's to GS's! *raises another 20oz tumbler filled with her GS!*

Welcome Befree2009.
I've made it through my first day of only GS until dinner time then I had a big salad for dinner. I'm feeling good except for the dull detox headache I've got going on. Hope everyone else had a great day!
Blessings,
Heather

Okay, I ate some SAD foods and boy do I feel sick. The more I eat raw the more my stomache can't handle cooked foods.
Today I am back making smoothies hopefully for good. I got off raw because I was sick and I stayed at a relative's home to recuperate and they didn't have a blender for me to make smoothies.
I went to the doctor and she was shocked because my blood pressure was 110 although I am obese. So the smoothies must be helping me keep my blood pressure down for overweight people have it high.
For breakfast I am just drinking a smoothie made from two tangerines, a half a cup of frozen cranberries, coconut oil, ginger, raw agave, flax seed meal and 2 to 3 cups of water. I need something light from eating SAD food.

I made a smoothie today of spinach, strawberries, ginger, carrots, coconut oil, almond milk, green powder and protein powder.
My goal is to start exercising and get down to 215 by Valentine's Day. I have two weeks to do that.

I'm also starting a mini-green smoothie feast (because juicing wastes all of that delicious fiber!) for a few days, and I'm wondering if there are any nutritional risks to be mindful of. I have been scouring the internet for any risks, but I haven't found any listed. I'm trying to make sure I get a wealth of different produce, but I'll still take my multivitamins and D supplements. Any suggestions?

hey all,
Im on day 3 now of my GS feast, I started a thread for feb 2009 Gs feast and Sj personal expressed her interest too. I guess it would be better if I post on here so all the GS feast posts are together :)
I had a lot of green smoothies today,.. did a lot of experimenting in the kitchen so drank em all up,... with the exeption of one, very strange combination which did not go down too well.
Anyway,. how long do you guys plan to smoothie feast for?
And what are your goals?
Im planning to GS feast through the month,. alternated by juice fasts,... Just taking it day by day and seeing where it all goes. I aim to loose 20-25 pounds,. then I can post my before and afters :)
i found a new smoothie I absolutely LOVE<. its not green, but has a lot of greens in it
Spinach/kale/ greens/frozen mixed black cherries/ blackcurrants/ black berries,.. YUMMMM!
I plan to incoporate a lot of cleansing smoothies with lemon juice in, to help break down fat, assist in iron absorbtion from the greens and clean out the pipes hehe
im a bit concerned whether weight loss can actually be acheived on a gs feast as you are taking in a significant amount of calories?? I heard of a member on here, valerie who did a green smoothie experiment for 6 months!! and lost well over 100Ibs! Apparently her blog is now closed. but im sure we could come up with some amazing results ourselves!
I have a dull headache too,.. COuld be all that green juice at work!
Hope you are all well
