My daughter will be her tomorrow with her family and she wants to eat raw all week with me. Thus far, I eat very simply -- have made very few receipes.

I would love some advice on a few easy (and of course) simply wonderful receipes to try -- I do have Alissa's book. We will be preparing meals for 7 adults and 9 little people (under 10). And sadly, we will have to be cooking SAD for the majority of them, though I do plan to offer them the our raw stuff too.

I can not find macadamia nuts here that are not rancid, anyone have a good substitute? Also can not find young coconut, never seen one infact! So please in your attempt to help me feed my crew, make sure these ingredients aren't part of the receipe.

Thanks for your help!

Smoothies, fruit salads, guacamole, gazpacho or other soups, marinated vegetables....does that help at all?

There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple. That's why I like raw.

I loved Alissa's blueberry pie. I also made "spaghetti" - I shredded zucchini using Cook Help (by Brenner - a shredder I got thru amazon) and used a spag. sauce of cubed tomatoes, garlic, onions, salt, and any green herbs lying around that marinated in the fridge for a few hours. I also cut up some mushrooms for it. It was so good! I had a visitor at the house last night who wasn't raw and she loved it. It's good served with avocado on the side and spinach.

Good luck!

I would always have a big fruit salad (maybe in a cut-up watermelon) and salad around. The salad could change daily- a regular tossed salad, a tomato and cucumber salad, a baby spinach salad. Then add easy raw versions of familiar foods-such as coleslaw, or the "spaghetti" Shannon suggested, a veggie tray with a great dip or some warm soup for a appetizer. Have you made the onion bread yet? How about the caramel coconut cookies (very easy)?

I agree with others that the spaghetti w/marinara sauce is delicious. Serve with marinated mushrooms and a beautiful green salad.

Try some soups: gazpacho is popular with most people, cauliflowers soup and chili (I think of it as a soup!) There is an outstanding chili recipe floating around this board. Click on the banana above and do a search.

Also someone mentioned smoothies! Everyone enjoys smoothies.

You can also stuff dates with soaked pecans and a small mint leaf. Super good.

Have fun and be creative!

Great ideas -- Thanks! I have my shopping list made with lots of things to get so I can make the coconut chews, black forest cake, spaghetti, fudge, brownies, smoothies and onion bread. Hope they all turn out okay, as I have never made them.

Any ideas what to serve with the spaghetti sauce, since I do not have a sprial thingy? Hey, she likes and knows how to do spaghetti squash, I'll get one.

Already planning on freezing lots of bananas. Wish me lots of luck!

Before I bought my spiraliser I used a vegetable peeler to slice zucchini, and then I cut them into long strips. More time consuming then the spiraliser but it worked. I also have a 'julienne' vegetable peeler as well which works great.

No one said "Mock Salmon" That is so good with raw chips or even veggie sticks. It makes a lot and keep well.
