Ok, so I just completed my second week of the MC but from what I've read on here I'm motivated to switch gears and try a week or two of green smoothies.

The only problem is I have all these yummy organic lemons left over... probably a good 40 or so.

So my question is: which combinations are good for adding lemon juice to?
Or any other suggestions as to what could be done with these lovely lemons? I'm not going to let them go to waste!

I'll still be on the lemonade tomorrow but would like to start with the green smoothies on Friday, provided I have an idea of which ingredients to buy by then.
:)
Thanks,
-anna

Hey Harbour - check out this thread. You can add a lemon to virtually ANY green smoothie:

PLUS - lemons are so versitile! You can make lots of things w/them. If nothing else? Juice them and freeze the juice if you fear them going bad...

If they really get to the point that they'll go bad......juice them and freeze them in small portions to be used in cheesecake, quacamole, drinks etc.

I also add lemons to my smoothies. Here is the combo I tend to use unless I can get my hands on other fruits like pineapple, berries and such.

2 oranges
1 lemon
3-4 pieces of Kale
2-3 frozen bananas
a sprinkle of goji berries
tad of water and blend

So delicious: )

that recipe looks delicious, solar!!

I think juicing and freezing sounds like a great idea, but is the juice still as healthy to drink then? I mean, I know fresh is best and that the nutritional value of juice goes down the longer it sits or is refrigerated. Does this also apply to frozen juice?

It hardly affects the nutritional value. Think about it. Back in the day when humankind scavenged for food during the cold months? They gathered many a food (berries, nuts, seeds, etc.) that was frozen.

I freeze a lot of things. Many of Alissa's recipes I create and freeze. The calzone is one that turns out wonderful! I make it and cut it in thirds and freeze it. I freeze all my nuts, seeds, and dates, except for the immediate ones I'm using.

My greens? I'll get a tremendous amount of greens and blend and freeze and then thaw as I use them...
