View Full Version : Girls HELP!!! PMS CRAVINGS!!!

:( I know some of the women have said that their cycles have changed and were lighter and such. What about PMS food cravings?
In my previous cooked life. (Haha that sounded funny) I always would crave ice cream and chinese food before my period. Well that is obviously not and option. Last night it was raisinettes~~ Nice. And no.... I am not pregnant.... And no fruit was just not doing it. I have a bunch of it too, all different kinds. I went to the Famrmer's Market yesterday.
So, what do some of you do for these cravings. I believe it is more of a salty/sweet craving that I, personally go through. Have any of you have the cravings disappear all together? I know that it will pass too so that is always the light at the end of the tunnel. I thought about making my own raisinettes last night. It can't be that hard to make them Raw. LOL.

I'm going through the same thing. I have been having terrible cravings - and sorry to say, I've been caving!
I haven't "officially" started my 30 day's raw yet. But it still stinks that I have been pigging out. The crazy thing is before I decided that I am going to eat raw, I was eating pretty healthy. The things I have been eating I would rarely eat before. I have a bad mindset right now.
Sorry I'm no help :(

This is still one area that I also have such trouble with. PMS cravings for me are sweets and salt and I have to stay away from salt as it triggers migraines.
I make any raw desserts that sound yummy, Alissa's Black Forest Cake, also her Date Torte, and Fudge Balls. I eat all I want of them and just try to go with the flow of the cravings because if I fight them I will end up pushing my family members out of the way to get to the fridge and eat anything in sight! (Don't get in my way!)
Hopefully with time these cravings will lessen, but so far that hasn't happened for me!

Hmmm...the first day I went 100% raw was the first day I started my cycle, and I had no cravings whatsoever...not even during. That just dawned on me. And I usually crave chocolate and all sorts of other junk foods but not this time around.

Well gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with this. I normally don't have any problems with cravings, but this is the one time of the month that I am struggling with staying high RAW. :(
I don't want to go back through detox because that is NO FUN>>

I'm not a woman...but I'm married. Does that count?
My wife has HARDCORE chocolate cravings while PMSing. She likes the carob truffles from naturalzing.com, they satisfy it.

For raw raisonettes try combining 1c raisons and 1c nuts and 4T ground cacao or carob in a food processor. Blend well. Add a few spoonfuls of honey and mix in, may have to do this by hand because it gets really fudgey, but if you add the honey with the rest the nuts won't process. Form into little raisonette balls. Fudgey-brownie warm, harder and raisoney candy refrigerated.

I feel like such an oddball! Since going raw the only way I can tell i'm getting my period is because I lose all desire to eat! It's like my body wants to fast right before & durring every month!

I think I am going to track my cycle and have these desserts on hand, maybe some salty things as well, just in case.
I think what it is is that I KNOW what curves the craving from cooked, but I don't know what RAW things do, so maybe I need to try a few things and them keep them stocked so when my cycle comes around again, it won't be as bad. You have to re-learn how to feed yourself AND cook. But I am completely willing. It is for the BEST cause I can think of. My health.
The desserts everyone has suggested sound WONDERFUL. Especially the raisinette one. That sounds very close to the cooked version.
Now what about salty? And this Chinese food thing is killing me!!! It used to be my favorite. LOL!!!! Maybe I should just lock myself up and come out when it's over. Because I'm crabby too. :(
Although I have to say, my moods have dramatically improved and many of my other horrible symtoms, so I am counting each and every blessing as it comes.
Thanks girls and stevek42~~~ Yes, you count too. :o :(

Chinese food, hmm.. what's your craving for? Sometimes I just want the experience of going out and having someone serve me something not from my culture but deliciously savory.
There is a raw Thai dish you could try. Som Tum. Green papaya salad. Terrible description though that's exactly what it is. Out of this world. Take your nama shoyu and ask the chef to use that instead of fish sauce.
If anyone is near a copy of The Complete Book of raw food Emily Angell has a recipe in it for Chow Mein Memory.
Finally, keep in mind that more people in China die of stomach cancer than of any other kind of cancer, and those rates are highest where the diet is but a purer, less-nutritionally-scary version of what most people stateside think of as chinese food...
Good luck! Would be nice to be as aware and balanced as Ginger is.. well, one day!
