Sorry - newbie questions all the time. I am worried about much sugar I have a day. In the AM I have a green smoothie (usually some combination of strawberries and spinach and banana or peaches, etc) At lunch I have fruit and applesauce (all natural, organic) and in between lunch and dinner I have another smoothie and then a regular meal (I'm gradually trying to go raw).
My question is - isnt that too much sugar? I know its different than processed sugars, but still I have seen that sugar is sugar and your body will process it the same. True?

No, it's not. It's when sugar is separated from the fruit, then, sugar is sugar. Fructose comes from fruit and in and by itself it concentrated, therefore not good. Within the fruit, rarely a problem.
Same with all nutrients. Once they are isolated from whence they came, they're nowhere near as good, assimilable and functional as they are when synergistally complete w/in the produce itself.

I'm with Revell on this one! Eating fruit is NOT the same as other sugary food, and it just peeves me out when I read elsewhere stuff cautioning people to not eat "too much fruit as it has sugar in it, etc." - yikes! This has the effect on people making them think that eating an orange is as bad as eating a candy bar or a can of soda!

I was eating 3 to 4 white grapefruit in one sitting and got a warning from a co-worker on the sugar intake. Never bothered me and still doesn't. When I have injested processed sugar, immediate negative body reaction.
