I would LOVE to hear your opinions, GOOD and BAD, on these four thickeners and emulsifyers in terms of health:

Soy Lecithin

Guar Gum

Agar Agar

Carageenan (or Irish Moss)

Energetically speaking, I can't even touch the soy lecithin, but many tout it as a supplement for health.

The reason I am wondering is that I have some wild ideas for recipes for the bf. He'd love to be raw, but there are some things he can't fathom changing yet, and my ideas don't seem to work well with him. I'm absolutely fine with runny foods (and avocado for "mayo") but I am thinking for others as well. Right now I am showing non-raw foodists how to incorporate more raw into their diet, no matter the diet.

Yes, so your opinions on these four substances health-wise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much! You are all BEAUTIFUL people inside and out!

Soy Lecithin: Be very aware of the non-organic variety. Reason being because soy beans are the most tampered with (most percentage genetically modified) crop in the world. If it isn't organic, unfortunately one must suppose that it has been genetically modified.

Carageenan: Beware of this in packages containing other ingredients since usually it contains some free flowing glutamate (Monosodium Glutamate anyone?).

The thing on soy lecithin is very easy to find citations for (www.naturalnews.com for one example) but the latter is more difficult. Either way, make sure to do your research (I didn't think this post had enough parenthesis)

LOL Thanks for the good laugh!!

Thanks for the info! Good stuff. As for the carageen, I'm actually looking for information on the weed itself, as I have all four of these things, and the carageen or Irish Moss is the only thing that is a whole food, yet has this distinct "sea flavour." I do appreciate your information, though, and I didn't even think about checking Mike Adam's site for info. Good call! Thanks :D
