I wrote a couple of months ago about the loss of my cat Oreo. He never returned. When friends asked me if I was going to get a cat to keep my other cat company, I told them I would wait until I came accross one that needed a home. Thats just what happened. I stopped in a local store and at the cash register there was a picture of a cat with a cute message saying that he needed a home (his former owners move and left him behind and a neighbor took him in.) I contacted the man and I met "Bob". Bob is a very sweet, mellow cat. He gets along with other cats and loves human contact. He is a total lap cat. I brought him home and he seems to have adjusted quite well. Unfortunately, my other cat is being territorial and jealous. I am hoping she will learn to like him. He is the same type of cat she is, but he is quite a bit bigger.

I am so happy to have him. I feel like my house is complete (almost) with two cats. (there is an old CSN song that refers to "two cats in the yard" that has been my personal theme song).

I am so sorry to hear about Oreo, but I want to say thank you for giving Bob a chance to become part of your life. There are soooooo many unwanted adult cats (and kittens) out there and for even one to find a good home is wonderful. I have my share of kitties (I have 15 total!! some are in a feral colony and live outside, but are very tame now).

I am sure Bob will bless you with lots of fun and enjoyment in the years to come. I hope your other kitty gets used to him soon. Sometimes they just have to work it out. If he isn't neutered, getting him neutered ASAP will be a good thing and will help in the overall scheme of things. Plus, he won't want to wander away if he is neutered.

Good luck with your new family member. Enjoy him!!

Bob is lucky to have found you :) I have 4 kitties, 2 of which were brought in at seperate times. My oldest female was very jealous and unaccepting at first when we brought in a 2 year old himmie who was twice her size. I thought her face was going to peel back when she hissed- she would even spit on the new kitty and kept him pinned in the corner during his out time....she was very unpleasant. That lasted about a month and now there is perfect harmony. Time and patience made it right,we also got really lucky that the himmie was very mellow and just went with the flow. He has been with us 2 years now and I have never heard him hiss.

I love my kitties - each with their own personalities :D

Congrats on your new kitty! Isn't it wonderful when we find new furkids -- or when they find us?! :) May you have many happy years together.

Aw... Cute! Daughter and I really want to get another cat, but the one we have thinks she is the best cat on the face of the earth and isn't afraid to show this to all the other cats.

AWW, my cousin's first dance at her wedding was to that song. :)
Congrats on the new kitty. I'm sure you'll give him a wonderful home.

Will his last name be Dylan?

Congrats on your new cat!! :) I know what it's like to lose a cat.. We had a cat (Abby) for years and after we lost her we were devastated.. We got a new cat, Penelope right after than (I had to.. I missed Abby so much that I needed another little critter around here) and then another, Gracie about a year later. Penny acted exactly the same as your cat when we brought Gracie home and now they play together and cuddle together so I agree with Melissa.. It just takes time.. :)
