I have some friends who are making preparations in case some disaster strikes. One of them recommended an AquaRain water filter, which filters water without electricity. Does anybody have any experience with this type of thing?
I don't want to be negative, but I feel that making some preparations in this economy couldn't hurt. I will be putting up some dehydrated food in vacuum seal bags and stocking up on spout seeds. If nothing happens, I can still eat the stuff. I have planted a garden and fruit trees too.

ive been wondering if we can make our own filters out of maybe something like a 5 gallon bucket with holea bunch of hoes drilled in bottom . then say nylon mesh cloth . then layers os clean sand , charcoal , etc . then pour water thru .
im just reaching here without much knowledge on the topic but would believe im in the ballpark with this idea and that with a little investigating we could come up with our own design and cheap water purification unit .

You are in the top 1% of people who are properly preparing. For a lot of support on your viewpoint and other ideas to safeguard yourself be sure to check out Natural News (www.naturalnews.com). They have tons and tons of articles showing how the American economy cannot survive this enormously growing debt and inflation that will hit. Good luck even though the rest of us will be the ones needing it!

Most Water Filters don't need Electricity. The thing is, if something happens.....Will you have Water.

My friends are investing in food grade water barrels to hold a large supply of water in case something happens. I intend to buy a couple myself. I think the idea of getting a filter is in case you are collecting rain water and/or the public supply of water is suspect. I live in Arizona, so there is not a lot of natural water around, so making plans to save water is important.
