Ok, TMI I know, but I've been doing the green smoothies for a week now and I have terrible gas and am very bloated. Something I am doing wrong? Or body will adjust to it?

I've been wondering about this too. Everyone on the forum keeps saying its because of detox, but I have yet to find any scientific proof of this.

If you're not used to eating that much fiber, you will get gassy and bloated. Your body just needs to get used to it

Yeah, my body is used to no vegetables and rarely fruits EVER so I assumed so. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt doing something wrong. Thanks!

I had this real, real bad at the beginning. Like, I thought I was gonna get fired.:D It took a few months, but it passed.
One thing I noticed was that, at the beginning, I was making these awesome green smoothies, but they had, lie, 25 different ingredients. I've gotten much, much simpler in my eating now, and hardly ever have any gas. Maybe try monomeals a bit? Or at least not combining nuts with sweet fruits? I find that helps.

I agree with curlygirl.
If I add more ingredients to a meal then what I'm use to or have a gourmet raw meal I always take enzyme supplements to help with gas and bloating...

"
Natural healers know that snake bites are dangerous, not only because of the venom, but also
due to the fermentation they cause in the tissues. Ice on a snake bite will halt fermentation (and also
decrease circulation to slow the spread of the venom). To stop digestive fermentation, place a cool
object or ice-pack on the diaphragm, or get into cold water. Sucking on ice cubes for 15 minutes may
also be helpful." ... David Wolfe
This is a section from David's book and I posted it because his suggestion worked for me. Sometimes I believe I could get really rich if I could just find the way to sell the gas I'm producing :D(I could open up my own gas factory:eek:) and it sooooo annoying.
After reading this I tried sipping pretty cold water and it worked!
You should try it too! GOOD LUCK!

Drinking lots of water and avoiding raw cabbage keeps me gas-free. I cannot stress water enough. Some raw foodists get away with drinking very little water. For some unknown reason, I eat no dehydrated foods and consume lots of fresh, juicy foods, yet my body still needs a ton of water. Sometimes I even drink a gallon of water a day if my body is craving it or if I have gas, bloating, or constipation.

In Green for Life Victoria Boutenko talks about how HCL helped digestive issues.
The first time I suddenly went raw, I had big problems with this and my naturopath suggested that I should NOT have stopped taking digestive enzymes and Betaine Hydrocloric Acid when I started raw because my body was not used to so much raw. It did help when I got back on them.
After eating "everything" during the holidays, I have now been on a green smoothie fast for 6 days. The bloating/gas started yesterday and I remembered that I had only been taking one Betaine HCL every other day.
