i have a potluck i'm attending on saturday night and as usual i want to impress all the SAD eaters in the group.
so my hubby and i are going to whip up some of alissa's crab cakes. anyone make this recipe? how many does it make?
we are also going to make her swiss cheese recipe to go on top. anyone make this one?
i'm thinking we should perhaps bring one more item to go with the crab cakes... any simple suggestions?
since i'm fasting i won't get to partake... but i would sure love to impress...

It's always the same old suggestion with me. I don't know if it will go with crab cakes, but it is impressive. If you don't tell, no one will know it's raw. Best of all, it improves with age. Make it a day or two ahead of time. Serve at room temp.

Hi Aleesha,
Not sure if this is too late, but I wanted to let you know that Alissa's crab cakes are one of my favorite recipes of hers. I love them. I added a bit more kelp to get more of that "fishy" taste and I think an extra carrot and celery stick, but that was just my own personal taste thing. Anyways, they are awesome and my children love them too! They are just as good straight from the food procesor as dehydrated. Very good

Personally, I would never make a recipe for others that I haven't prepared before and tasted myself. Any recipe that I have never tested, even from an awesome chef like Alissa, is a potential recipe for disaster. Aleesha, you've been raw long enough that I'm sure you have tried-and-true recipes to make for yourself. I hope you have a good time at the potluck and that whatever you end up preparing will be a smashing success.

well i still don't know how many the recipe makes *hint hint*
we've decided to make an international veggie platter LOL i'm still not 100% although i am feeling much better everyday.
we got some jicama, grape tomatoes, and other stuff that others may not have tried (as so many people only eat the 'ordinary' stuff) and i'm making alissa's onion dip to go with it. and then we got some bread and are making a brushetta (sp?) to go on top.
i'm taking a nice cantaloupe juice for myself. i'll put it in a bowl and call it cold soup. :)
*thanks for asking lucy* (((hugs)))
