View Full Version : Headache - result of coincidence?

I am just starting and not quite sure what I am doing. Hadn't been shopping yet, so I juiced what I had this am. Grapefruit, Apple, 1/2 lemon and added some green powder for breakfast. Then a few walnuts for a snack.
Got a serious headache and don't know if it is related...maybe my combination, or if it is just a coincidence.
Went shopping and just ate a big salad, hoping that something more solid would make a difference, but not yet...
Any suggestions?

Sounds like detox, it's normal :)
Drink plenty of water and it will pass, your body is just ridding itself of toxins.

Walnuts with fruit=bad food combination if you have them too close together. I would wait at least 1/2 hour after the fruit juice. Unsoaked walnuts often upset my stomach as well.

It could be a detox from a food or drink that you are used to consuming...hidden caffiene is common. I just take a tylenol, but that's probably not a recommended suggestion.

I didn't eat the walnuts for at least an hour after the juice. And I just started juicing this morning. Can detox start that soon? 1/2 day?

Bad Combination.....Grapefruit, Lemon, GreenPowder. The Apple did not have a chance to fight that Battle All by itself. You can start RAW right where you are but in the Meantime I would order Alissa's Book and DVD, Living on Live Food and learn all the in and out of RAW.
You can also find a Class to attend in your area featuring one of her Certified Teachers. Also do research on this Forum using the "SEARCH" at the Top of this page. I wish you everything you need to Stay RAW....
Jules, You've received other helpful hints as well, but I have a few additional suggestions that may be helpful to you.
1/ Eat green smoothies. In my opinion, it is NOT natural or ideal to detox through pain like a headache unless it is short-lived and the result of ridding yourself of a HUGE amount of toxins (like quitting coffee and everything else at once). The body is designed to release toxins through bowel movements, not pain. So a HUGE (at least a liter) green smoothie every morning should help with that.
2/ Do not eat until your body gives you hunger signals. This is a great way to make sure the first food is fully digested before you move on. There are many approximations of how many minutes certain foods take to digest, but they are only approximations -- so you still must listen to your body.
3/ Enjoy your food. Don't watch TV or talk or drive or rush out the door. Focus on the enjoyment of your food, and chew well.
4/ Have a look at food-combining charts. Don't let your life revolve around them, but at least give yourself the opportunity of awareness in case you have problems that stem from bad food combining. (Note: Some people can practice bad food combining all day and still feel great. Some people release gas and feel pain with the slightest mishap. Who knows where we all fall on the spectrum!?)
I hope you're feeling better by now! But the tips we've shared still may come in handy. :)
