Firicia asked this in another post, but I thought I'd make a post just about freezing greens.

I know it's ideal to use fresh greens, but sometimes I will need to freeze them, if I can't use them up quickly enough and have them go into the compost pile...

If freezing them - how do you all do it? Just toss them in a bag, whole? Or maybe process them down perhaps adding water and then freeze in a container...?

All help appreciated! *Ü*

I put them in the Food Processor for a while, chopping them down a little, put them in small bags and Freeze them. I don't add any Water.

I just put the spinach in a bag, seal it and freze...it keeps it's shape and does not stick together, just pours out of the bag as needed. Make sure it is dry before freezing.

Thanks so much spicyfull and GlimR - this is so good to know. I don't like tossing anything and this will help! *Ü*

I freeze my cilantro and parsley (the two main ingredients in my GS), the other greens in my store can be very pricey, so I buy cilantro and parsley on the heavy side. The other greens I buy when the prices dip a bit.

Hi ltcartwright ~ Can you please tell me how you make your GS using the parsley and cilantro? Are they savory or sweet? Thanks in advance! *Ü*

i freezed greens, because I can't eat them all, especially if I buy them a lot since they are on sale.

They do get watery when they thaw though. I think I will put mine in the dehydrator for a few hours to solve that problem.

So do most of you that freeze greens just put them into smoothies? If so, does it taste any differently and what about changing the texture. Do you do anything besides using them in smoothies?
