Well, i just finished my first week and lost 15 pounds. I know this is mostly water weight, and remember that i have over 100 pounds to lose, so i'm going to lose more in the beginning. I also know that it's not going to continue like this (darn) every single week. I had dizziness, light-headedness, shakiness and then a really strong headache, and then on day 5 it all went away and i felt wonderful. I made my green smoothie this morning and ate a huge salad for lunch with fruits. I am very happy. I am still learning. I don't know how it will be next week, or next month, as i have 50 years of addiction to sugar and processed foods to overcome, but so far, so good!!

actually gaby i'm not sure where this "wive's tale" of... the first weight you release is water started... but honestly i have one of those fancy scales that tells you how much you've released in water and fat... and when i do it the fat content is always going DOWN and the water is going UP. so although i didn't have this when i first went raw (wish i did) but i guarantee that i was releasing FAT not water. after all, the food you are now eating is full of water, why would you be releasing water from your body??? why wouldn't it be fat. why do people think that it takes time for the fat to start leaving???

this has always puzzled me.

kinda like my mom always telling me that i had to wait 1/2 an hour after eating before swimming... found out that's just an old wives tale as well.

Wow Gabriele that is fantastic! What did you eat? Did you keep the fats down or did you just eat anything as long as it was raw? I have over 150 pounds to lose so anything you can do to help me will be greatly appreciated! Wow! Congratulations on a great start!

wow, i don't know if i'm more impressed with 15 pounds or with the great support on this website. And i can't believe anyone is asking me for advice since i'm still learning and just a "seedling"!!! (i love that).

i've been eating salads, a lot of oranges, bananas, and smoothies which i make with more bananas, some spinach, maybe a pear.

i'm a chocoholic who has spent my whole life eating badly so i've been very surprised that i am NOT HUNGRY after eating a big salad and some fruit. And another surprise has been that i've been totally in tune with what my body is telling me, meaning if i'm not hungry i won't eat and i wait until i feel actual hunger pangs before eating (something new to me). The whole key this week was eating when hungry, not when i'm bored or happy or anxious.

Aleesha, i hope you are right, maybe it wasn't all water weight, that would be great.

Of course I'm right... look at what you've been eating. No unhealthy in any of it... just health, pure live raw health!!!

Watch as more slips away this week... and then again the next. It will slow at times, plateau at others, but don't fret... it'll start up again. That's what happened with me. When I plateaued for weeks... I did a short fast (8 or 9 days) and it kick started my weight release again.

All the best to you!!!

I really agree with you, Aleesha. I have only lost 17 pounds in 6 months, but I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12! (I am 66, and my metabolism was all but non-existent when I started.)

Gaby, save your money! You will need several entirely new wardrobes, from the inside out. Bras and panties are expensive! My husband is only too happy to accommodate, and is loving watching me have fun shopping. It wasn't much fun to shop for the size 20's but the 12's are lots of fun. In fact, I bought a pair of Ann Taylor jeans at a thrift shop that are a size 10, and I only need about an inch in the waist and they will fit!

When you are tempted to eat cooked food, just remember 15 pounds in one week! Keep up the great work.

Wow, very good! Excellent!
What kind of dressing are you putting on the salad and how many smoothies are you makeing?
Seems like you are really into the fruit. That is my favorite part of this lifestyle.

This was such a positive post. I haven't been to this site in a while. This was a good reminder.

Thank you.

actually, i've been up and down since i first wrote that post back in january. I am still struggling with a serious addiction to chocolate, and nothing, i mean nothing, can compare to Lindt milk chocolate. I don't like to cook or make anything in the kitchen (though i have tried) and no concoction i can come up with would satisfy my craving for this creamy-smooth chocolate. (sorry). so i have to suck it up and just not eat it. I just simply have to avoid it. It is a mental, physical addiction that just takes over my whole brain sometimes!! So anyway, that's my update. At least the husband is faithfully using my Vitamix. I've been using it also, but not enough. Tomorrow is another day.....

Have you tried the "raw revolution" chocolate bars? They are very good (I was told at the NFS to keep them in the fridge and they taste like fudge. I've never had the Lindt milk chocolate so I can't compare, but maybe that would bring you back to where you want to be.

Are you able to eat only a square each day? I know those bars are big (I've eaten a whole one in a sitting before), but maybe you could portion each square off and package them separately when you bring them home.

Give me some of that weight loss! Good for you. I noticed the first week I was raw I lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time, but it has since slowed down. I'm still losing but not as quickly. If you're concerned about the amount you've lost, up your calories a bit. Way to go on your weight loss though!
