Hi Everyone~
I didn't see a thread started yet, so here goes:
This is a place to define your fitness goals & challenges.
Now that the holidays have passed it's time to get back on track! :D
Who's with ME?!?!?!
My fitness goals:
To walk on the treadmill - slowly increasing speed from 3.0 to 4.0 over the course of this month - to prep myself for trying a jogging program mid Feb.
Walk on the treadmill at least 4 days a week - possibly 5 (with an enthusiastic friend from work)
Teach my 2 yoga classes on Tues/Thurs.

I didn't exercise on the 1st - too busy restocking my Raw pantry & getting my kitchen set up again.
Last night I walked on the treadmill @ 3.0 mph for 55 min. :)

Can I start in a few days/ I am fasting and don't really like to push it with a work out during that time.
My intents would be:
Do some type of work out for 30 minutes 5 times a week. (I have tons of work out tapes, a pilates machine, and am a member of a gym although this time of the year it is always jammed packed)

I am totally in. I always feel better when I exercise and my diet is usually better too. I haven't worked out today yet but, I have worked out everyday so far of this new year. I usually do at least 1 hour to an hour and a half.
The weather shifted today to cold again and I'm kinda eating this morning.............grawnola.

I want to do something for at least 10 minutes every day. I want to do aerobic exercise for an hour three days a week.

I am definately in!
I work alot on my feet and have a three year old son but I still manage to live a somewhat sedentary lifestyle. My goals this month is to get out of the house everyday and take my son on an adventure (I can't wait for the icy slush to melt away here). Perhaps I can go on a brisk walk during breaks at work and start the dreaded pushups in the morning when I first get up.
This all seems very doable so now I just have to do it-lol.

Great job gals!
You guys make your own rules - joining/doing whatever you need to do - this is your place to log your goals/activities.
Today:
Walked on the treadmill for 45min. @ 3.1 mph - :D

I definitely want in too - however I'm also fasting for the first bit of the year here. I'm focused on cleansing at the moment, but when I'm back into solid foods, I'm ready to commit to more regular exercise. My first intention is doing something - anything to move my body - 3 times a week.

I have been exercising since the first this will be my second exercise accountablity group. I need it. Last night if it hadn't been for my other group I would of went straight to bed, but instead did an hour on the treadmill, watching "Celine Dion" movie. Anything to keep me going. I would like to jog 2 miles a day. walk 4mi/day and 10min. after each meal. My walks have replaced my insulin, 4 mi. is my long term insulin and after each meal is my short term insulin. Moving is good, I tell myself fat girls sit on the couch, skinny girls move.

I'm in, ladies!!!
I definitely feel so much better when I move regularly, so I need to make this a priority. It's really hard with my lifestyle, but no excuses, right? :)
I'm inspired by the Couch-to-5k program, gonna give that a try this week. Mostly, my commitment will be to get *some* movement, 3-5 times a week.
Here's to us, lean, healthy, happy!

I did the treadmill today, So I moved it was an accomplishment. I think going raw and detoxing my body is slower than it has been in some ways. I'm looking forward to the repair and better strength. Just trying to do something everyday for now.

Well I overslept today, but I still made time to walk to the grocery store and back, then do the 5 Tibetan Rites. I'm really, really loving these - not hardcore exercise, but I'm a little outta breath by the end, and feel energized and centered. Dig it.

Yesterday after work - my workout partner & I went to the gym.....since it's the beginning of Jan. - the "New Years Resolution Club" had infiltrated all the treadmills & we got stuck on the recumbent bikes for 30 minutes - :(
Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like I'm "moving" my body while I'm sitting down......
Hopefully it won't be so busy on Wed.
I have to teach yoga tonight & I know there will be a bunch of new faces.

Ok so I am back (I think ) from sickness! I had some sort of flu for like a week now and was really bummed about it. So today I went down in the basement (I don't care to work out there - I feel like spider eyes are on me or something but I did not think I could make it to the gym, work out and then have energy to drive home so into spider land I went) . I put on Kanye West's Stronger on my mp3 player, dusted off the treadmill and stated to shuffle along slowly:
Did 1 hour walking at 2.6 miles an hour walked 2.50 miles
Hopefully later this week I can be back to my 100% self I really miss working out :(
Hope everyone is having a great day!

My goal for January is at least go to the gym 3 days a week with 20 minutes walking/running and 30 minutes circuit training. On none gym days I will run outside, or run in place, especially watching a rented movie. Do stretches and free weights for my arms. Maybe dance in place while watching television.

I have been hiking with my doggies for an hour every day so far this January, so I guess my goal is to keep that up! Today it was only 30 mins or so because the road to where I normally walk them was closed off, but I am planning on taking them round the roads here later today so it should be fine and hopefully the road will be open again tomorrow! :)

Tuesday is my favorite night and exercise day. Biggest Loser is on. When I watch it I'm so encouraged I can do my biggest work out. The distraction is great. I went for miles and trotted most of it. Not sure what I'm going to do today, the kid is home sick. Glad to be moving though. :)

I work out at least six days a week. I'm on day THREE of almost totally raw (does coffee count terribly against me as not being raw?? - I like to consider it like herbal tea)...:( My exercise is generally running four miles per day - with added classes of yoga, pilates, spinning, muscle flex and some weight training. I just went through a fitness assessment at my gym - will get results of a healthy excercise program today at 6:00 pm. I'm excited. I'm 150 pounds and need to lose at least 25 pounds. I'm already feeling lighter -have possibly lost 3 pounds - but will weigh tonight at the gym to be for sure. Also - does anyone feel light headed/or weaker when exercising? Am I not getting enough carbs? I need as much advice as I can get. Thanks all and have a blessed and Raw 2009!!

I love the "Firm" I've been doing their workout series for many years. That's mostly what I do with some workouts by Kathy Smith and Karen Voight. I used to do workout of Denise Austin......I was in Gymnastics with her High School...She was a senior and I was a freshman. What a trip huh?
I worked out yesterday. 45 minutes firm combo - cardio/weights.

My hubby thinks Denise Austin is annoying so I do not have any of her work outs- they used to play some of her work out shows on one of our fit cable channels. Hubby really likes Gilad.
I have a Kathy Smith belly dance DVD :) I also like Winsor Pilates.
Here is what I did today:
51 minutes Firm DVD - total muscle toning

We got some snow yesterday - not too bad though as it was windy and most of it blew around so I did not have to shovel yesterday- hopefully you will not get that much either.
Today was a fabulous work out- I am feeling pretty full of energy today.
Walked/ jogged 3 miles on the threadmill with various speeds AND 35 DVD from The Firm (total body work out with sculpting stick).

Everybody's doin so well!! :) :) :)
So is it just me, or does your energy explode when you combine raw and exercise? I went to bed around 3:30am last night (a little late, even for me, but not by much) - sprung outta bed at 7:30, excited to go for a run.... in the 19 degree, windiness.... for FUN.
????
then, I worked lunch shift, got off, and said, hey, yknow what I'd really like to do? you guessed it... go for a run. 'cos I FEEL like it.
????!
go raw, go.

LOL I wonder why I live in IL as well - been here all my life and can not stand the cold. My Dad is from TX where it is in the low 60's there now (they have to deal with hurricane's though so I guess each region had something lol)
Today I did another Firm DVD (was going to do a escape your shape work out however that is a VHS tape that did not want to play in the VHS player)
1 hour Firm DVD - complete cardio and weight training (step cardio along with light weights, then floor excercise for tummy)
Glad everyone is doing well and filled with energy!!!

Guess I'm in on this, too. My goal is to stay at 5 to 6 x a week, doing a variety of Callentics and WiiFit each mornin' with "office" exercises through out day. You know, little things like stretching and balancing on one foot while working (though I work at home so more of a working around house). Amounts to 20 to 40 mins in morn and not sure how much here and there does throughout the day. :)

For my exercise conscious rawbies -
Just wanted to share with you some really beautiful words of wisdom from Tim van Orden. Some of you may know of his work - if not, check out www.runningraw.com. He's really an inspiration for raw fitness - for anyone, really. Anyway, I contacted him on giveittomeraw and here's his advice on running:
I'm very glad to hear that you are smiling while running :)
Here's my secret - Don't call it running, don't think of it as running - Think of it as play, as an adventure, as moving swiftly and powerfully, use it as a means to get someplace beautiful, let is speak to your heart and not your ego :)
Keep it up, everyone!
