I bought it 2 months ago, but I knew I wanted as some form of encouragement to watch whenever I need a motivation for my weightloss. It is really interesting. The Special features is more informative with the author of Fast Food Nation.

I think I will watch this once a month at least to remind myself to eat healthy.

The author from Fast Food Nation says that one McDonald's hamburger patty is made from 1,000 cows! LOL Ain't that crazy how they just ground up thousands of cows and mix all their meat together. Disgusting.

He gained like 30 lbs in one month and could have died by messing up his liver, because he was collecting so much fat around it.

They played that on HBO a few years ago - I saw it then and never walked into a Mcdonalds again.

They showed that to my daughter's class when she was in 5th grade, at Sunnyside Environmental School, in Portland, OR. I thought that was pretty damn awesome.
(And now I live in beefy, beefy Texas, sigh. But that is another thread entirely. ;) )

I showed it to my two neices - it worked for a few days then they were back to the same old bad food ways.:(

Our schools out here have such bad good choices - I looked at the menu and they have pizza, hot dog, hamburger- that comes with chips for $2.50 They also serve icecream, cookies and candy- no fruit no veggies. There is an option of side salad (it only has iceburg lettuce) The vegan menu is a vegan hotdog or vegan nuggets. I really wish our schools had better food choices and taught children more about healthy eating....it all makes me very sad :(

No wonder so many children now a days are overweight and have things like diabetes.

time for jamie oliver to conquer the us with his school dinner tv series.
the uk has a serious obesity problem specially children and teenagers and the dinner that is served at most uk schools was disgusting (turky twizzlers etc..) He basically convinced the then government of changing that to organic options cooked at the schools- not raw but a hell better of what went on back then. now a lot schools are participating and it is a success

For once, the state I live in did something right!

http://www.naturalhealthandbeauty.org/2005/06/junk_food_faces.html

There was also a big push for the cafeterias to provide healthier lunches (not JUST pizza, nuggets, etc) that went into effect in 2006.

My sister is a public school teacher, and said CA has not implemented such a policy yet. (nor is there one here in VA) Not sure about the other states...

we are in southern CA and although my daughters school luckily is very easy on the milk issue and on vaccination the mensa food is appaling - the only solution is to pack your own lunches- which my girl loves.

I was first worried if she wants to eat what the others eat but no, she told me the other day that the food at school looks and smells so disgusting that she can't understand how some of her classmates can possibly get that down :) so proud of her. It also helps that a lot of other parents in her class have quite healthy food habits as well and 2/3 of her class bring their own food.

That is awesome that your daugther brings her own lunch. My nieces will not do that because it is not "cool".

Actually I am surprised that health insurance companies do not push for a healthier menu in school. After all a healthy child grows up to be a healthy adult - healthier people save them money on expenses.

I know so many people that are diabetic. A friend of ours who is 40 years old had a heart attack a few months ago too. Lifestyle habits play a huge role in ones health, quality of life and longevity.

Let's hope that all states do something about lunch selections in school sooner than later - after all it is our futures that they are molding .

we tried to sneak off the school campus to eat at Mcdonld's in high school. It was 2 miles away, so we would beg a friend to drive us there at lunch.
