I stumbled across an Hispanic grocery store in the town I just moved to and saw that they were selling "White Coconuts." They looked very much like the brown "hairy" ones I'm used to seeing, except that these were literally ivory in color with ivory/white "hair." I tried to research them on the internet, but found only photos of these coconuts that looked like they had been hand-shaped with a point on top. These were called Thai coconuts. Could these be the same thing?

Any insight?

I don't know but I think they must be different because the 'house' looking ones I have used are brown under the outer white husk (they have brown hair). These were round with white hair? Interesting.

Yes, these looked just like your conventional coconut, but were white in color. I will be so disappointed if these are just bleached. I should have gotten one.

They are Baby Coconuts. They have a Green Skin which is peeled off, thus the White comes from. Inside you will find the young gell like coconut flesh and water. These are called Thai Coconuts.
