I still want the benefits of green vegetables, along with the others that I'm juicing, but too many leafy greens make me nauseous.
Does cucumber juice count as green?
I would love some ideas, thanks!

Cucumber
Rommaine lettuce
Celery
Green cabbage
These are all pretty gentle. I think cucumber counts.

Have you first tried balancing the greens with other things like fruit? That might help. Cucumber is not a green, but great to juice and could work well because of the water content. Celery has a lot of minerals. Carrots, ginger, beets and apples are good to add to juices besides the other two. Perhaps try different combinations with the greens.

I heard somewhere that cucumber is a fruit- when I heard that I was like huh?
I looked it up and sure enought it is.

I too like celery
Baby organic spinach
Romaine lettuce

I also will juice a organic lemon or lime peel and all to cut the green taste (if you are using the peel make sure it is organic, if not organic then you have to cut the peel off before)

What's a fruit, veggie and green's been pretty well established already, so I will just tell you one of my favorite combos.

I like a combination of cucumber, celery, romaine and spinach, plus a half a lemon with peel. If you want you could add some granny smith apple or a few carrots for sweetness, but I don't, 'cause sweet's not my thing.
I think if you try it, you will find this combo mild and palatable.

how about forgetting the greens and adding spirulina to your fruit juices instead? a bit of chlorella perhaps... there are other ways to get your greens. :)

I like parsley.

Parsley tastes good but is really harsh on my stomach.
Aleesha's recommendation about the spirulina is a good one.

Botanically, the part of the plant that contains seeds is the fruit. So botanically, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, etc. are all fruits. Nutritionally the distinctions between fruits and vegetables are made based on the vitamins and minerals contained within them. Nutritionally all of the above-mentioned are indeed vegetables.

My apologies then for giving incorrect info - I went back to where I found this originally and it is from Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko .
Page 16 states not to confuse greens with non sweet fruit like cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini and bell peppers.

She is well know in the raw community so I felt that it was correct info.

I was balancing them with fruit, pineapple, apple, lemon, I don't know why I can't think of the others, but for some reason the spinach, romaine, etc will not work right now

btw, which spirulina should I get? I know they make chlorella tablets and I'm looking forward to getting some of those, are there spirulina tablets too?

Melissa your info is correct. There's a difference between veggies and greens. They are not 'one-in-the-same'. As Victoria explains in her book... greens should have their own classification and I couldn't agree more.

When we speak of adding greens or making green juices we are talking about adding things like:

fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro, basil etc) these are highly nutritious
kale, collards, lettuces (although iceburg is mostly water so not a lot of nutrition in that)
sea veggies/seaweed

That's all I can think of in this moment... but I'm sure we all get the idea. :)

One of my favorite combos is Ruby red grapefuit, Lime with the flesh and a few carrotts, green apple and cilantro. It is VERY tart but I love it! Going to make one now........ need to get spirulina...

I have spirulina/chlorella tabs and swallow.not chew them as I cannot handle swamp monster taste.
Spinach is not strong and is reccomended for children to start them out on smoothies.
Listen to your body and pick accordingly. However the feeling after you drink them is cleansing and moving stuff out.It is ok as iti s you just decide how slow or fast you want to cleanse and how much you can handle of that.
