For those of you that get coconuts, where do you get them? I have yet to find an organic young thai coconut or organic coconut water. In fact, I have seen a grand total of seven coconuts in my search. Just wondering since I know there are a couple of books out there that heavily use coconuts and coconut water. Thanks.

I find them at Whole Foods, although sometimes they aren't there for weeks at a time, so I usually buy a few at a time when I see them. I've also stumbled upon them at my local Wal Mart sometimes. I like to drink the water thru a straw straight from the coconut, then eat the meat.

HEB? Chicago, Illinois.

Are they always at Whole Foods? Produce section I presume? Where are you located?

I can sometimes find organic coconuts at Woodsmans out here in carpenterville IL. If you are in Chicago there are a few wholefoods there

Look in the produce section. For me being out in Gilbert IL I have to travel too far for Wholefoods so I do not go there often so I am sorry but can not answer if they are there all the time.

There was also a thread here awhile back talking about non organic coconuts being ok. If I can find it I will edit this post

Ok found it :

Thanks for the information! I'm just not a fan of anything being dipped in any kind of chemical, I really appreciate the information that thread had to offer though. :)

I found some at an asian market closer to my house-5 miles, as opposed to 30 miles to WF. same price. The lady told me that she always has them, cuz she has one for breakfast everyday. :)

wow, that's cheap!!! they cost €2,95 or €1,50 each, even if you buy a case. I think Josh wants to get organic ones. We don't have them here.
cheers from Eva

mmmh, i know unbeatable price and I go through a lot, specially my kids love smoothies made with young coconuts (water& flesh) . If you live in a bigger city and you have something like a Grossmarkthalle around that is worth checking to get a good price. I used to get young coconuts for a reasonable price (50 cent) from an small asia martket and I simply asked the owner if he would bring me some vom Grossmarkt and he just charged me what he payed, that was in Munich.

no, not organic. cost was $2.00 each. didn't ask how much for a case, as I don't have room in my fridge right now. They cost $1.99 each at WF.

On the update front, I have still not seen an organic coconut of any kind, much less a young thai organic coconut.

In Denver, $2.99 outrageous when I get them for much less there. Yikes. Mine not organic.

google organic young thai coconuts. Two sites come up. Rawguru dot com and genefitnutrition dot com.

It looks like mail order is your best bet. It may be pricey, but I think if you can afford it, why not?

Good luck!

Carol,

I get mine at POM in Broomfield for a dollar a piece. I buy them by the box. I'd be happy to pick you some up, too, next time I go.
