cup of lemon juice followed by orange juice. Fresh of course. Repeat as needed, but the first cup will make a world of difference. Like within minutes.
My dad woke up with a terrible cold yesterday. I gave him the juice and he was ready to go. Worked for me. Worked for mum. Worked for Greta Garbo. :)

Yes lemons are wonderfull to break up mucus. I am not sure if you are away on vacation or at home with time off - if you are home then a nasal rinse does wonders as well.

oil pulling , www.oilpulling.com . to me it draws up mucous / congestion so can more quickly evacuate .
plus ive read many recommend no solids , it'll feed the germs . thusly juice fast .
my fave herb in the matter is echinacea , tea form . celestial seasonings make a good one flavored with mint .

I use a Neti Pot (or did, haven't been sick since going raw). Similar to the nasal rinse.

I tried to search for a remedy I have seen on RFT using chopped garlic and cayenne, but I couldn't find it. The poster said it cleared her head for 6 hours at a time.
I did find this tomato juice remedy which uses garlic and cayenne. Looks interesting. http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/sinus_congestion.html
The mucus busting ingredients most talked about are ACV, lemon, honey, garlic, cayenne, and onion. How about making a spoonful of medicine with those, or a salad dressing.
Red onions make me watery. If you can't handle onions, try apples.

Sorry you've got that virus. I know several people that had it, including my husband. His congestion went into his ears and gave him an ear infection. He was practically deaf. btw: no one would take my advice and eat garlic and onions, so I don't know if it really works.
Hope you feel better SOON!
