Just wondering who is or has gone through a raw pregnancy (or high raw). I'm now 23 weeks along. I'm starting to get more tired than usual and really foggy brained. I'm thinking kicking up the raw each day can help with this. I haven't made any effort to be all raw while pregnant, though I'm 99.9% vegan with a lot of fruit and greens each day. I'm scared of detox and a currently settled eating disorder. Also, I have such intense cravings for lentils, brown rice and tofu (I won't give those up).
Being January 1, I started today with my neti pot (had to dust it off!), hot tea, a little yoga stretching and dates and clementines for breakfast.
Thanks!
Debbie

I'm 100% raw and about 7 weeks pregnant. It's hard lately, not just raw food, but because nothing sounds edible! Ugh.
I see that you take a prenatal. Have you ever had your blood tested? I had mine done maybe 3 months ago and my folic acid levels were off the chart. I worry that taking a prenatal could be dangerous b/c that would just pump me up with more folic acid (maybe you can get too much). My doctor wasn't overly concerned about me already having too much, but I wouldn't want to add to it with a man-made supplement. I wonder if this is common with raw foods, since it's not like I'm supplementing.
I have a friend who had a completely raw pregnancy and she's been raw 12 years. She talked to Dr Bisci, a raw doctor in NYC, and he apparently told her that every man-made vitamin we take throws off the other nutrient levels in our system. This scares me more than thinking that perhaps I'm deficient in something. I think I'd rather stick with natural foods for vitamins, but I can understand your feeling of wanting to take something more to ensure you're getting enough of everything.

I'd be happy to share my journey. Last night I had dinner at my folks with my family so I had a humongous salad and then some spaghetti. Applesauce and a little soyice cream before bedtime. Slept it off. Started today with neti pot, stretching, hot water with lemon and waiting for the fruit salad. I'm really aiming for optimal energy during this last half of my pregnancy. Sleep, stretching, and the best foods.
Regarding vitamins, I was eating a "healthy" vegetarian/vegan diet when I got pregnant. So, I went straight on the vitamins. I didn't even think twice that I might have been sufficient in some areas. But now that I'm eating much more whole foods I am more relaxed about the vitamins and take them as I feel fit. Interesting info., thanks.
First trimester is tough. I hardly had an appetite except for lemonade and crackers. Dates sat well for the first several weeks, then not at all. Now I like them again. I think you just have to get through the morning sickness. It's survival. Congratulations on the pregnancy.
