I recently received Alissa's book. Very exciting! I have been trying to go raw off and on for many years. This book gave me new hope. I actually lasted about two weeks before I got "sloppy" again. I think this time it just got hard with sprouting and dehydrating. Couldn't get the timing down. Any hints?

I set it up so those things happen at night while I sleep. :p

Well I don't have any 'hints' per se, eventually you will get the hang of it, planning in advance and how it fits your daily schedule. When I 'uncook' I tend to make a lot of things at once. So I'm chopping, mixing, sprouting and dehydrating just a couple days a week. Then I bag, refrigerate or freeze and I have enough for the week. I work from home, but if you work outside of the home, I imagine it would be difficult to come home, hungry, tired, and try to whip up something quickly. Maybe if you decided at the beginning of the week the new recipes you want to try, you can do all the longer prep work at one time, or on the weekend, then just add things during the week to round out the meal.

At first, time management can be daunting -just like cooking can take lots of time, until you get the hang of it.
I too, soak seeds and nuts overnight, just like truthseeker. When I do make something for the dehyrator, I usually use the food processor to whip it up and then spread or drop onto the dehydrator sheets. That usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on how much I chop. Then into the dehydrator they go, and I usually don't think about them until I walk by the machine. It could be the next morning or in the middle of the afternoon. Nothing will burn, so you don't have to hang out and watch it every second.
Every so often, I will prep alot of veggies, (just like Autumn) make a few recipes and such, all at once. Then I can just take some ready made or prepped items right out of the refrigerator.
Hope this helps.

Always have at least a couple of ready items on hand in case you get home late or just don't feel like putting something together that takes time...for me it's these...
ingredients for a fruit/protein smoothie
crackers and raw cheese
muesli
or a handful of nuts and dried fruit

Any hints?Easy!! Just turn to page 55 in Alissa's book. Read it and do it. Then, turn to page 61 and there's your 4 weeks of menus and the shopping and food prep guide.
Once you've cleared out your entire house of cooked and processed foods and food items, you've committed yourself. And ... the time management stuff is built in. You start out with simple preparations and proceed to more difficult as the weeks pass.
My only hint would be to not make the full recipes, but, rather, halve them. They make so much. And, if you end up not liking that recipe, it's a waste. And, even if you do, there's plenty for another meal.

Wow! Are you using this book instead fo Bible?
With regards to sprouting, you should definitely consider doing this automatically. Trying to go Raw while manually propogating sprouts is a huge (and unnecessary) hurdle to success. You can buy an automatic sprouter readymade (e.g. an EasyGreen (http://www.easygreen.com)) or you can buy a kit (http://www.eatsprouts.com) (which is what I did) that will save you a lot of money.
Automating your sprout production will require a siginificant initial investment, but it will pay for itself tenfold in the longrun, as it frees you from the shackles of manual-sprouting-drudgery and allows you the freedom to enjoy the benefits of sprouts without the negatives. *Important: always rotate your sprout varieties so that you do not excessively focus on one type. This is much healthier and much less boring, to boot! Also, if growing wheatgrass (for juicing), be sure to follow Anne Wigmore's advice to take a break from the substance on 2 days of every week, so as to prevent your body building up an intolerance to it. Lastly, take it easy on the buckwheat greens which Wigmore was so fond of - they have since been found to be mildly toxic if consumed too regularly (nothing scary, just leads to sunlight sensitivities (http://www.gillesarbour.com/buckwheatArticle.php)). To reiterate: variety, variety, variety! :) Do check out Alissa's links, if you haven't already done so, and Rhio has some nice links on sprouts and wild edibles here (http://www.rawfoodinfo.com/articles/sprouts_weedsmain.html)

It is not funny at all. I take the Bible very serious and casually comparing words from God to the diet book is a disgusting.
With respect, Victoria, who said anything about the Bible?
Do you mean the name? 'Joseph', as a name, existed long before the Bible.
Do you mean the grammar? The Bible was written in the grammar common at that time - to the best of my knowledge, a new and unique language was not devised for the exclusive purpose of writing the Bible.
I'm sorry if you took offence at my humour, but I urge you to re-read my post and see for yourself that I really did make no mention of the Bible - flattered though I am, at the comparison, my words are certainly not 'the words of God'. All the words, sentences, punctuation and grammar in my above post were entirely generated off the top of my head so-to-speak. If you can find a quote from the Bible which precisely matches my post (and I don't mean just one generic sentence) then I will be truly stunned because the odds against that are a million to one (given that I do not read the Bible and thus have no Biblical parables memorised). The only book I spoke of was Alissa's...
