very easy stuff . and probably in florida could grow it outdoors all year round . wheats just like giant grass seed , and grows just as easily . buts more vigorous . i buy the seed cheap at a dollar per pound from bulk food stores . and if cold season i fill cheap plastic dish pans 4" full of dirt from my organic garden , sprinkle seeds in at a rate of a seed every 1/4 " , cover with 1/4" soils , soak down good with a spray bottle every day . in less than a week grass shall be 4"/5" tall . cut of at soil with cheap utility scissors about 150 blades . cut into half inch bits so dont bind up blender blade . in blender half full of water blend the grass on high about a minute . strain in fine metal mesh kitchen strainer .

Hey nice and easy instructions. Do you grow it by a window? And I assume your pans don't drain out?
Now, any advice on mini-greens like buckwheat and sunflower anyone?
I've been poring over www.sproutpeople.com and feel a little overwhelmed.

yes i place by windows , but here in southeast michigan coldseason there not much sunlight .
and no pans dont drain , i dont put enough water into soil for it to have to drain .
and can do same style with sunseed , they grow very vigorously .
though ive not grown the de -shelled ones , only the ones with shells
still on .

MR - so with the sunflower seeds, do you cut off the sprouts and toss the seeds? Or do the seed hulls fall off easily?

Is there a special place I need to buy seeds for growing grasses? I've always wondered, and now with garden season done, I thought it would be nice to grow some easy grasses and sprouts!
Thanks!

What is the seed labelled as in bulk stores?
Anyone know if I can get this at bulk barn stores in Canada?

I've been poring over www.sproutpeople.com and feel a little overwhelmed.
I've been doing the same thing.
I really want to stop being giving Whole Foods $5 or $6 per pack of broccoli, sunflower, etc. sprouts. I go through at around one of those packs of sprouts a day, for heaven's sake.
Sproutpeople is a bit overwhelming though.
I am thinking of just getting a kit to get started because I am having such a hard time wading through all the information.

Well I normally get overwhelmed by instructions but sprouting is so easy. I am glad I tried without the instructions first. Just soak the seeds in an open jar for the required time. Then drain them, place cheesecloth over the top and secure with elastic and turn the jar upside down in a bowl so water is always draining out. Fill part way with water swirl, dump water and drain again several times a day till green bits sprout!!
Its so easy you just have to try it. You'll see.

OK! LOL
You do make it sound easy, and I'm sure it is - I mean, why wouldn't it be? :D

- emmat , the seed hulls can be a pain to get off the sprout head .
thusly ide prefer growing hulled sun seeds if theyll sprout as readily as the unhulled .
- and in bulk stores the seed ive seen is labeled hard or soft wheat , or wheat berries . the hard wheat looks like dark brown grains of rice . the soft wheat is lighter and thicker . they both sprout the same in my experience . but taste may vary , im not sure because i didnt keep tabs on which i sprouted the times i was eating it rather then making rejuveac . but right now im sprouting hard / winter wheat and like the taste .

I followed the instuctions for wheatgrass and it's now 4-6 inches tall. I will harvest it tommorrrow. I am wondering if it'll keep growing and I can get a second or third harvest or do I just start all over again with new seeds in a new tray?
