no they lasts for months and months in the fridge or freezer. if unopened, i think they can even be in a cabinet or closet.

Doe anyone store them in a cabinet? Me and DH live in a travel trailer and move around a bit. ???

Mine are in the cabinet, or in a jar on the open shelf. My refrigerator space is taken up by veggies and my sauerkraut and pickled jalapenos. The freezer is full of yummy fruits and veggies and the beasts' chickens. No room for nuts.
I wanted to be a fulltimer. Am a member of the Escapees, but it just never worked out.

The almond supplier says this: Keep in the sealed package received until ready to use. With oxygen removed or air sealed, moderate heat is tolerated & the package material keeps out moisture & odors. A shaded pantry shelf should be adequate for several months. If the storage location will likely experience high temperature spikes, refrigeration is preferred. Once the sealed package is opened; if not consumed within a few weeks, store in cool area (less than 75 F) or using a moisture sealed container, in a refrigerator produce drawer. For long term storage (8 mo. or more), freezing or constant refrigeration is recommended.

Not sure about the cashews, but I can find out.

Some nuts I find I go through more quickly depending on what I'm using them for. Like cashews and almonds if used in recipes, won't last for long. While something I may eat mostly on it's own, will last longer. I've gotten 15 lb of walnuts and it didn't take up much space in my freezer considering it's quite a small one. Either they can be kept in bags with the air let out or divided up into containers. I'll usually keep a smaller bag of chopped nuts in the fridge drawer for immediate use. Since most areas are cold now, it's much easier to store at room temperature as long as you don't keep your home too warm.
