Edamame

I just got my Territorial Seed Co. catalog and I'm devouring it. I would love to grow edamame, but am not sure if it can be eaten raw. Maybe I could marinate it in EVOO and ACV and then dehyddrate it and toss on salads or use as snack? Has anybody ever eaten edamame fresh and raw?

OH TIME OUT HERE , edames the edible podded soy bean i think .

if so i tried them a few years ago but my entire crop got wiped out by a couple wood chucks , they loved them and let near everything else in my very stocked 30 x 100 go

take that back , they wiped out tons of greens like romaine .

Personally I do not like it raw. I never liked it cooked either.

im a city boy so not familiar with alot of critters , and when the woodies showed up a few years ago i coulda sworn they were badgers :eek:

i never realized what a strongly built / tough looking critter woodies are .
i always had the image of the puxatoni phil / ground hog day critter in a little cage that looked like a hamster or something :D

Funny, I never knew what kind of animal a woodchuck is, so I always pictured something like a woodpecker.
So I guess I skip the edamame. I've only eaten it boiled, shelled and salted, and I don't want to do that. Thanks for the replies.
And yes, MR, I love Territorial along with Bountiful Garden in Willits, CA. Territorial has lots of seeds suitable for my growing conditions practically on the water at the North end of the Olympic Peninsula in WA. They understand. I've gotten to the Lettuces so far and feel like a pig at the trough. I'm marking entirely too many things I want. Problem is, my yard right now contains 4 raised 4x8 beds, and other than those it's a half acre of prairie with lots of all sorts of weeds, including thistles. So it's going to take tremendous amounts of work to turn it into a garden. Also, I have a bunch of deer roaming the neighborhood (most people think the are soooo cute, but they ate all my tomatoe plants and lettuces this past summer). I have 200' of deer fence, put can't quite figure out how to make a fence within my yard to keep them from eating aqll my stuff. Oh well, I'll figure it out. Slim and trim as I will be here REALLY soon, I'll be brimming with energy and won't know what to do with myself. I'll be ready!:D (Just have to overcome that pesky lazy streak.)

They are Soy Beans and can be eaten RAW. In Salads or eat like Snow Peas.
