It isn't drastic, but my body temperature has gone from an average 98.6 to 97.0. This was the first time I've checked it out of curiosity. I have a physical coming up in a month, am I going to get hell or be prescribed antibiotics for something I know I don't have? Thanks :P

Well you wont be prescribed antibiotics because if you have an infection your body temperature would be elevated. My body temperature is always below 98 even when I was all SAD.

How do you feel? I wouldn't worry about it. When I first went Raw? I was always chilly.
Don't let the docs intimidate you.

I feel fine. I'm not cold, in fact. I am finding it to be a bit warmer, actually (sort of like how someone with 1-2degrees higher is colder). There are some infections that lower body temperatuer (one or two )

My body temperature is always around 97. My naturopathic doc says it's "Wilson's Temperature Syndrome," which you can Google if you'd like to know more.
My thyroid crapped out on me last year, and for me, this is related to that.
My thyroid is OK now, thanks to raw, but I'm still working on getting my formerly perky metabolism back up to speed.

How does one work on that?

I didnt know that. Thought all would raise the temp. Do you know what ones would lower it?

\Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
Diabetes
Adrenal gland insufficiency (Addison's disease)
Hypothalamus dysfunction
Liver failure
Kidney failure
Widespread infection (sepsis)
Excessive use of alcohol or illicit drugs
A side effect of certain medications, such as phenothiazines, barbiturates, opiates, clonidine, lithium and benzodiazepines
Sepsis is what it was.

98.6 is considered an average body temperature. that means many are higher and normal, and many are lower and normal. I wouldn't worry about it at all, especially if you are feeling good.
When I was high raw for a year my temp was down to 94 degrees consistently. It freaked me right out. When I go back on a cooked diet my temp is perfect. It's weird.

How does one work on that?
Primarily through diet (raw) and exercise (both aerobic and strength training). Thus it really is work and takes time.
I also try to get lots of foods that are said to contribute to efficient metabolism, such as high iodine foods like kelp, as well as metabolism-boosting dark leafy greens, blueberries, watermelon, grapefruit, broccoli. I also try to get a healthy amount of things like cayenne, chili peppers, black pepper and ginger, which are also thought to contribute to healthy metabolism.
But raw generally + exercise is really the best thing you can do, as far as I know. It's just not instant. It takes time and effort.

OK DON'T FREAK OUT at this at all. It's just a degree.
I'm sorry, but I can't tell by your pic or words. Are you a woman? If so, definitely don't worry!!! A woman's temperature fluctuates from 96.00-98.50 or so throughout the month. Totally normal. Men's temperatures fluctuate with their "cycles," too. It's normal! It's hormonal. I don't know the science of men's, but especially around ovulation a woman's will go up quite a bit, and a few days after go as low as 96, sometimes 95.
If you FEEL something is wrong, listen to your body, but otherwise, don't sweat it. If your doc makes a big deal, tell him/her to take into consideration the variables of one's hormonal cycle, man or woman.

OK so maybe you can be a pioneer in men's hormonal health! ;) There are entire books written on temperature changes in a woman's body, but I haven't seen any for men :( Men's cycles should definitely be explored more fully.

Men have cycles? I wasn't aware. I don't want an excuse. Was that sexist?

I agree that there is a range of normal body temperature, that it varies from day to day in individuals, and the idea that everyone in good health will maintain a constant body temperature of 98.6 is ludicrous, however, it is one indicator of imbalance and shouldn't be simply dismissed when part of a constellation of symptoms or when there is any other reason for concern.

There is no other reason for concern... yet :P
But my temperature was ALWAYS 98.6-98.9 so it seems like a drastic jump; doesn't bother me much.

maybe when your temp was 98.6, you might have been having a low grade fever, or reaction to something you were eating, now that you eat raw, it is no longer happening?? just a thought.

Definitely wasn't sexist. Many people are not aware that men have cycles because they are not usually as extreme or noticeable as a woman's

Have you met my husband? Ha ha, just kidding. He does have his moments, though. I tease him about his "cycles" just as much as he gets on me about mine. Also, he often tells me that it's about time men had such an excuse as women! :D
