So I am visiting family for the holidays and in an effort to be supportive, my aunt took me to her Whole Foods store. They have a whole section of "raw" foods. Have you all heard of Lara bars and "raw" rice protein? What are your feelings on these things? Moreover, she also let me try out her dehydrator. I made a really GOOD loaf of banana bread. But, after I eat these so called raw foods I feel like I feel after eating a cooked meal. Does anyone else experience this after eating complex recipes that resemble cooked and processed foods or the packaged raw foods?

Also, I read a post on here that said we don't really need salt. Is this true? Also, I bought ocean salt...do you guys think that is okay?

I have an issue with heavier dense meals because it reminds me of SAD and ultimately makes me indulge in it.
I sort of dont want RAW to resemble my old diet, as some need in order to stay raw. I was not comfy on a SAD diet, so I dont want anything to remind me of it.
I dont add salt to anything! Just because I dont like it!
I am wondering about ACV and olive oil, some times they both make me feel bad.
Everyone here is going to tell you to choose your battles and pick your allowances.
I have read that some larabars are not 100% raw and some place them in the raw "junk food" catagory... I dont eat them so I don't have much of an opinion on that!

I eat very simple foods and do not do gourmet but I carry a Lara Bar in my bag for an emergency and eating it has never caused me a problem.
Some Lara bars are only 95% raw but it is clearly stated on the wrapper.
I do not use any salt either.

I make my own Lara type bars. I read the ingredient list on the wrapper and just used the same stuff, put in the food processor and shaped it in bars. I use little salt, and if I do it's Celtic Sea Salt. I dehydrated a lot of celery this year and ground it up, it makes great celery salt.

"Good" salt is a vital part of my diet. As with anything, if you are going to completely remove something from your diet, at least educate yourself on the potential loss and how to make up for it in other ways. Research "salt deficiency" and see what you are in for when you do not have enough in your diet.

I wont get freaked out about a "Salt deficiency", I dont add it to my own stuff but that doesnt mean that I wont ever consume it again. There was salt in the guacamole my boss made this week, also in the salsa - im getting it, I just dont add it to stuff that I make.

I prefer juicy raw food and don't plan to get a dehydrator. Being 100%saltfree feels good to me :)Take care, Eva

Interesting.
On the whole, I try to keep my food as unprocessed as possible.
However, I happily use a bit of salt at times, always pink Himalayan or Celtic sea salt, and I am fine with that. I see no ill effects from doing so.
I don't really do Lara bars per se though I do have some other raw bars around for emergencies, and I do eat dehydrated food and "gourmet raw" from time to time as well, but I've never had those foods affect me in that way, thank goodness.

I agree. I lack energy when I don't eat any salt. I use himalayan crystal salt, full of minerals very good for you.

A lack in salt is very bad, I've had it happen a few times on my first time dieting. Muscle cramps, spasms, bad stuff.

What are your thoughts on Ocean Salt? I was going to get the Celtic but it was too expensive and the ocean salt seemed just as "raw"

If Lara bars are made with almonds, then they are pasteurized and therefore not raw. I don't buy them anymore. There are other bars that are more raw.
When eating cooked foods I can't stop and just keep eating and eating...never satisfied. Same with gourmet raw. Its fun once in a while but definitely doesn't feel healthful.
