I read in a book that the authors made batches of fruit smoothies, but were taking all sorts of weird tasting supplements, like maca and bee pollen, and the green powders, and what they would do was pour a teeny amount of the smoothie into a seperate cup, add their supplements and drink that first, then drink the rest of the good tasting smoothie....
Wouldn't this upset your stomach?
I've read posts about people getting nauseous and throwing up because they took too much spirulina, or too much of a supplement,
would taking it this way be a shock to my digestive system?

Probably. If you listen to my last interview with Victoria Boutenko, she says to not add any of that stuff to the smoothies just for that reason. People complain about bloating from drinking smoothies yet add all kinds of stuff to it. I keep mine simple ~ fruit and greens. No bloating, no problem.

I think fruit is best eaten alone or with greens.
When I feel the need to take powdered supplements, (powdered foods, really,) I take them in nutmilk. This is easier on my stomach. Also, many powdered foods, like maca with its caramel flavor, taste great in nut milks.
The exception being green powders, which make a nice addition to green smoothies, it just ups the greens. Greens and fruit is a good combination.
Never take MSM powder with anything except water on an empty stomach. MSM is naturally found in water (unless it has been boiled or filtered).

The best way is taking supplements separately, but the only way I could consume anything that tastes bad is by adding it to a smoothie. I've never gotten sick from supplements. That could possibly happen if one isn't use to eating so healthy or maybe they took too large of a dose of something new to them. But I've tried tons over the years and it's never been an issue. No one should need large amounts of supplements anyhow if they're 100% raw or close to it. Just some for maintenance or to help specific issues.
