So, I bought Garden of Life Super Green Formula. I have tried a variety of ingredients to mask the taste, cut back on the amount I put in smoothies, etc. It tastes much worse than the alfalfa pellets we fed the sheep (grew up on a ranch) Those actually tasted ok. I am giving the remainder to my BF next week. I believe he tends to use Barleans.

Are all green powders this strongly grassy tasting?

I'm here for the health benefits, but I refuse to eat stuff I do not enjoy.

I use Alissa's green food powder in my smoothies and to me it does not taste grassy.

my outlook on green powders is if cant get nothing else the dried out not very nutricious powder shall do , but if ive the option ide rather have a masticating juicer thats good with greens like an omega 8003 and juice greens all the time . and even in winter with alota times not very fresh greens they still arent bad juiced .

but in small amounts ive added the very nasty tasting kelp powder for its iodine because i think ive a shortage thats affecting my thyroid possibly , and iodines tough to find in land grown plants . and i only take about a quarter teaspoon per day so i can handle it without pouting :D

Most of the green powders do taste bad on their own, but once you figure out some good combinations in a smoothie or soup, you can't detect the taste. I recently discovered chlorella tablets and powder, which I actually enjoy the taste of. Pure Synergy is milder than Vitamineral Green and some others. Spirulina works well in an avocado dip. Just need to be creative. Sometimes using a smaller dose and working your way up to a larger one helps too.

I tried a green powder that my friend gave me, it was a combo of barley, wheatgrass, hemp, and some spirulina. I didn't like it at all, but my cat loved it. I bought pure spirulina, and much prefer that. It tastes green, without tasting like grass, imo. :)
