My grandmother got me an early Christmas gift- earth shoes. I guess they are some brand that died off in the 70's and just recently flared back up.

Does anyone have a pair? I put them on, and I stood up from my chair and two seconds later fell back into my chair.

I haven't done a lot of walking, I'm still sort of wobbling around in them.

The premise behind it is that your heel is 3.7 degrees lower than your toes, making for an interesting ... experience.

My niece just loves them.

I know people who swore by them in the 70's. They always looked silly to me and I never tried them. As for them dying off, I don't think so. I've seen them advertised since the 70's.

I wore them and loved them. They were the only shoes at that time that were comfortable for me. I'll have to look for them again.

I love that most of their shoes are vegan (no leather).
I enjoy walking in them. They have done wonders for my posture.

This is "Negative Heel Technology".
There are 2 categories of people that should not wear these and one of them is people that suffer from Vertigo. I can not recall the 2nd but will try to find it. I can not wear them because of this reason.

rawstrength: do you run in them? Mine look like athletic shoes, but I tried to run in them and it wasn't too comfortable. I'm getting use to them, i guess I'll have to get use to running in them as well.

No, I just use them for walking. I wouldn't want to run in them, that's what my running shoes are for.

Oh good, I was dreading having to run in these.

I hope someone didn't throw my old running shoes away T_T

I checked out their website, pretty neat.

I believe I'm getting a gift certificate to REI over in Seattle (to purchase my toe finger shoes:) From what I've read on their site the fitting has to be pretty exact, supposed to measure with a tape measure, goes by inches not shoe sizes.
So you will probably have them on before I do and I am excited to hear what you have to say about them. I LOVE being barefoot.

I found that my earth shoes really aggrevated my knee condition...but I think it may have been a positive rather than a negative thing. I think they hleped to strengthen certain muscles that I don't usu use. Too bad I gave them away before I figured that out....

I've tried them on several times because they really have a unique, fun style but every time I just can't find myself ever getting used to the heels being lower.....do you just get used to it?

mike, i got my five fingers and LOVE them. they are fantastic. using the sizing chart from online gave me a good fit. i haven't been running in them yet as i'm still wearing them around walking to get my feet used to them, but i plan to try a short run today and see how it goes. i think you'll really like them. i think my brother is going to get a pair since i've been talking so much about how great they are.

jurence, sorry for hijacking your thread. maybe we should start a five fingers thread. ;)

Lol.

The shoes are working great for me. There is no way in HELL i'm ever going to run/jog in them, unless I want to rip something in my ankle.

Beckx - please keep us posted - I am a runner - I'm anxious to hear how well you do with this type of shoe!

Thanks!

I have three pair of Earth Shoes... all Vegan :)
I love them. I have problem feet, and I also need the posture correction they provide.
I do have to walk a little slower in them than I used to walk, but that helps with my knee/hip issues.
I love my Earthies :p
If I were a runner [excuse me, I'm laughing uncontrollably right now], I'd use a true runner shoe, I would imagine... or else, I'd just run barefoot on the beach. ;)

I really enjoy my earth shoes now. I think this spring/summer I will try to go barefoot and keep my shoes with me. I'll have to wear them in school, but what are ya going to do.
