I heard of a peeler that makes julienne slices and have looked for one for about the last year. It's just like your vegetable peelers but it makes julienne slices and is just really fun. This week I went into Bed, Bath and beyond and found one. I've looked in lots of shops and specialty stores.....it's just one of those gadjets that makes raw preparationn fun.

i didnt know there was such a thing because my veg. peeler does that very well.... especially on carrots. what makes this different from a reg veg. peeler?

It makes many strips at one time as opposed to the one strip your conventional veggie peeler does.

The best $5.95 I have ever spent...
I have had mine for a year now and use it at least 6 times per week. Handy it is.
I got my julienne peeler (http://www.pamperedchef.com/our_products/catalog/product.jsp?productId=15549&categoryCode=CE)some years back from Pampered Chef.

I however like Oxo products way better than ANY, except knives. I LOVE the Rada knives. Stainless steel, lightweight and way cheap!!!!

That looks like a cool peeler- looks like less work than my mandoline slicer thing that has an attachment to julienne (of which I am always afraid to julienne my fingers) . I love nifty gadgets.
Oh ditto on OXO products!! They're fantastic! Twice I've called about getting replacement parts and they told me they're guaranteed for life and sent me what I needed - FREE!
Can't beat that! I just bought the OXO hand chopper (sounds dangerous!) and it works well. I was going to hold out for a Pampered Chef chopper, but they're so pricey and I was at BB&B with my loverly coupon.... *Ü*

yeah i LOVe my juilienne peeler--alot cheaper than a spiralizer for making zucchini spaghetti
i got mine at whole foods. ive seen them at both the whole foods in seattle and the whole foods in western mass so it seems like theyre pretty widespread.
I tell ya - I have this "Curler and Slicer (http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.K7702.desc.Fuller-Kitchen-Solutions-Manual-Vegetable-Curler-Slicer)" (spirooli?) from QVC. I only use if for zucchini pasta (so far, at least) and I thought it was a great price. I use this bugger all the time!
Its price is $17.86 plus $5.72 s&h.
I've also got the Joyce Chen Asian Spiral Slicer, but I hardly every use it. I use this one...
Back to add - I also have the mandoline, pictured on the above link's page, on the top right. We made probably 25 gallon bags of dehydrated (organic) apples this fall using that slicer. What a little work horse!
gadgets, Gadgets GADGETS!!!
sigh ~ I'm so easily called away . . . *Ü*

If there is a whole foods near you, I think I saw one sold there. Whether or not they still carry them, I don't know.
