How to make green smoothies

Sorry to sound dumb....but i want to start 'creating' green smoothies but i dont really know how.

I dont have the best blender at best..infact its crap.

Do you just throw in a bunch of greens, maybe a piece of fruit and water??
What are the best combinations?
