I grew up in a very rural area of PA and someone from back home just sent me this article. It seems the Raw Word has reached this tiny nearby town of about 1500 people. I love that the 62- yearl old woman told the doctor to give her 30 days and drove all the way to NC for a free raw class. And now she holds monthly classes! I've seen what people in this area eat  and it is so inspiring that folks are getting hip to the raw lifestyle.

Very cool. Wish everyone could be as smart. It's especially refreshing for anyone over 50 because they're usually stuck in their old ways. Some under 50 too, but usually the older the less inclined to listen to new things.

That's ace Rawvive!

I'd absolutely die of shock if anyone from my tiny home town took up raw foods, or even contemplated it!

Hopefully this lady can encourage others to make healthier changes.

I KNOW, right? :D - I had to re-read it a couple of times just to see if what I was reading was what I thought! Funny that the article title is "vegetarian" - I think that will be the closest they get to calling it raw foods. But here is a place where this woman can eat for $20/week because produce is so plentiful.

yay for raw!

Thanks....I enjoyed reading her story.....loved her closing comment about how she only shops on the the produce and toilet paper isles.

More good news....was chit chatting with a group of (YOUNG!) male sailors today. I walked into a conversation regarding soy protein...of course I swayed the topic to raw foods...great interest and talk - two of the guys have heard of "raw diet" -several wrote down the links (including this one) I recommended for research! Just spreadin' the word~!

I don't know why they would call it vegetarian anyways. It's pretty clear in the article that she eats meat a few times a week -- and beans -- to "get her protein"... So, she's not vegetarian. And I hope she's not completely raw if she's eating meat.

Either way... great steps in the right direction -- and obviously they have served her well if she's doing well and has lost so much weight!
