Add 1/4 of an avocado to your green smoothie recipe, and it will be so much creamier with so much less bitterness. The fat in the avocado also helps you absorb more nutrients from the greens. I am sipping a wild lettuce/banana/dandelion leaves smoothie, with no bitterness! Because I added a little avo :) . BTW, there are a LOT of greens in my smoothie, and only one banana.

I am new to raw food talk. I would like to know if there are alternative blenders that are less expensive than the vita mix blenders. I would like to get started with green smoothies now, and save $$$$'s to get a vita mix. Would someone please reply and let me know if they use a different blender. Thanks :)

rawmiracletee? ANY blender will do. It just won't be as finely blended. It will be "chunkier", which is still a ton better than chewing. You don't NEED an expensive blender...

Before I got my Vitamix I chopped green smoothie ingredients in my food processor then put them in my cheap old Osterizer blender. Worked OK. It would not have been able to blend without the fine chopping first. But it can be done. Just chop stuff up very small if you have no food processor.

You are sooo right! We've been putting avocados in our smoothies lately too and it does make them much more fantastic! Yum!

I just bought a brand spanking new vitamix!!! yea! I used a regular blender, and it worked pretty good, but the greens didn't get pureed all the way, still had to chew a bit. lol. I got the V.M. for myself for xmas, and am using the 3 payment plan. I also put avocado in my smoothies , and they are so creamy and delic. that way.

I use a regular blender and my smoothies are perfectly smooth! Just put the greens in water, first, before adding anything else. Whiz that until you have liquified your greens. ...a minute or so. I have a cheapy $30.00 blender AND a Vitamix, but I use the cheapy blender because the Vitamix is such a pain to clean.

I am drinking a green smoothie right now. It has 6 cups of greens, a cup and a half of water and a cup each of mango and pineapple. There are no chunks here!

I always blend my greens FIRST with about a cup of water...really blend!!! Then add my frozen fruits...this has worked with BOTH of the cheap-o blenders I've had!!

I used my food processor before I got the BlendTec.

I like the idea of using the FP, then the (regular) blender - wish I'd thought of that at the time! *Ü*
