I just bought some. Took 1 tbsp. at breakfast. I have read lots about it, that it is supposed to be good for healing; internally taken and externally applied. Has anyone had any results with this; do you take it internally or externally yourself; what did you take it for, etc. I just wanna see if anyone has any experience with this stuff...

I order mine form Tropical Solution--organic,raw and unprocessed.
Yes, I have experiences with vco. About 2 years ago, I lost my period for 9 months and the weird thing was, I was a avid runner doing 60+ miles a week and all of a sudden gaining weight--no matter what I ate and didn't eat. I had all the classic sympotoms of someone with thyroid problems. Meanwhile, I ordered the oil and 2 weeks later, BOOM my period came out. I experienced a sense of calmness in my body,my body temp rose finally.
This oil is an awesome complimentto raw food lifestyle. The great thing about vco is, even if you heat it, the fat structure stays the same. I use it in my hair,face............
I got my informaiton from Dr. Mercola www.mercola.com
Where did you get yours?

awesome to hear your success with vco! i bought mine from whole foods. it is emerald laboratories brand, extra virgin, certified organic. i hope it is a good one! i haven't ever used vco before. the jar says to use it 1tbsp 3x/day but i only took one tbsp at breakfast. i'm not using it to heal anything specifically, just to improve my health. should i be taking more than this do you think?
i got my info from: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm

p.s. mine doesn't say anything about processing; i wonder if it is or not?
edit: it also doesn't mention how to store it, just says it has a high shelf life. i shouldn't be refrigerating it, should i? i would think it's like other oils, just kept in the pantry...?

Coconut oil does not have to be refrigerated. I keep mine on the shelf.
Blessings.

misslinda...do you take it medicinally, ie, a certain number of spoonfuls a day or do you use it more casually as in recipes?
Thanks!

For recipes I use evco almost exclusively except for salad dressings and recipes that need a liquid oil like pesto. It's useful to solidify cooled raw desserts like strawberry or cacao ice cream "shells" and fudge.
My dear friend puts 2T in a smoothie for breakfast everyday, he is not raw and doesn't cook so it's the easiest way for him to get his daily dose. It is anti-fungal and he has been fighting ring worm for over a year now. The bumps have gone down though haven't disappeared yet. He was getting a cold every month and hasn't been sick for the last two months, I credit the co and the smoothies [prior to drinking the smoothies he hadn't had any fruits or vegetables except boiled corn a few times a year and fries for a decade].
Externally I use co on mosquito bites, it eliminates the itch within minutes and swelling within an hour. It has proved helpful for rashes as well.
I use coconut oil exclusively as my hair conditioner. I put it on before I use my fir sauna and shampoo once after. I also use it as a body moisturizer after shower. Before bed I apply a *thin* layer on my face. My skin really is much smoother, softer, and more moist [not to be confused with oily]. Sauna + evco + skin brushing is a winning combination.
For a lot of testimonials on the health benefits go to the forums at tropicaltraditions.com. Some guy has improved his eyesite, people have said it helped heal them of diabetes and thyroid problems, etc. Amazing stuff.

I just got some from here. Smells heavenly. Says they are not heated about 84 degrees. One smells like toasted coconut. Mmmmm. http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm

Hey Doe,
When I was first introduced to VCO before raw, I was taking 3 tbsp a day or the tbsp's spread out.
Now that I am raw, I sometimes will use VOC,flax or if I have nuts, i eliminate using other fats........like todya, I am using flax in my salad. Depends on what flavors I want or my body want for the day. :)
