since going raw 3 years ago i feel that i may be missing alot of the b vitamins i formerly was getting in my cooked vegan foods , so i was looking at wheat germ til realizing its just the core of the wheat seed with the outer shell ground off thusly opening the germ / core to air and spoilage / massive loss of nutrients . so why not buy the cheaper entire wheat seed and soak to soften 24 hours then utilize it as a cheap / filling staple and big b source .

so im enquiring as to others recipes . im thinking adding things like mexican or italian type tomato sauces / spices to the soaking wheat or afterward as a sauce . then also the granola vein of recipes with like cinnamon / walnut / almond / almond milk / berries / etc .

but im not good at recipes so asking around .

i think raw foodist are really over looking in soaked wheat seed what could be a very cheap / healthy / filling / nutrient packed staple , just needs a little attention to how to combine it with other things for taste .

just think about how long the soaked / heavy wheat seeds would sit in ones gut giving them energy to burn all day . protein / vita e / vita b's / fat - all raw for cells to feed / burn on . and simple to prepare to boot ;)

why not let them sprout and use the wheat grass?

not a fan of the taste of wheat grass at all . but when its soaked 24 hours or barely sprouting a tail , pre chloriphyl state , its decent tasting to me .

and im thinking that wouldnt the grasseous state be much nutrient different than the seedeous state .with the seed state being more protein / fat / b vitamin rich than the grass state , which would be an entire different package of nutrients . plus the seed state is much more filling / hearty of a thing than the grass . and a cheap / hearty / nutricious staple is what i seek in this soaked wheat seed .

NOPE ~~ doesn't look like a berry to me either, but Hooray, I have wheat berries on hand and am going to soak them tonight, sad part is I have to wait until tomorrow to try them with the tomatoes, garlic etc..... :(The tomatoes have been calling to me to eat them :)

Hey Michigan,

Alissa's book has a recipe called "zucchini bread" that I like, though I think I use 1/3 as many raisins as she calls for. It uses zucchini and raisins as the base for the bread. It was a hit when I took it to a raw potluck. Obviously with raisins it's more of a dessert bread.

I sprout wheat berries for my pet birds all the time and for myself some of the time. Usually I just snitch from the birds' supply. But if I make a batch for myself, I sometimes put a handful in a salad.

ok just thinking = soak seed for 24 . strain , blend up all the pizza / spaghetti / chilli sauce ingredients and cover the soaked / softend seeds with . let sit for say 6 hours to soak into seeds . it'd be like a seaoned rice dish but raw . if i could get this to taste near pizza ide be one happy camper

ps - I KNOW THIS'LL WORK . bet it'd be real good sun baked during summer time , set it in sun on top some type reflective platter . have to cover it with screening against flies .

36 hour soaked wheat seeds in bowl , fill bowl with almond milk / banana / etc smoothie for a breakfast cereal . this would have the B/E/PROTEIN OF WHEAT , THEN THE CALCIUM / PROTEIN OF ALMOND = HEAVY FUEL

In the 70s I used to soak wheat seeds and ate them as cereal with berries, bananas, grated apples, etc. At that time I would use cows milk, but almond mylk would be great with this.

I think I will also try 36-48 hour soaked (barely sprouted) wheat seeds in lieu of rice in sushi rolls. I bet it would be great.

I'll use 48 hour seeds, put them through my juicer with the blank thingy in place (wheat butter? LOL) and mix it with some ground flax and spices into a fairly thin batter, thin enough for crepes, and pour it on teflex. That should make great wheat thins.

Boy you've got me going here. I can tell my water fast isn't over yet, because this does not make me hungry, just excited to get in the kitchen and work on some of this.

glad someone else is working on this , itd be a great cheap staple that could be aten for breakfast / lunch / dinner .

i just was munching on some 'wheaties' in the bottom of a big colander filled with sprouting wheat that i havent rinsed for 24 hours , and these seeds at bottom of colander that didnt sprout had like become dry and chewy and good . i could fathom using seeds in this state as the base for a trail mix type food with almonds / raisns / walnuts / dried fruit / etc . maybe sprinkle the seed after done soaking with cinnamin , then let it sitin open air like 48 hours drying , with cinnamon drying on it . call it ' cinnamin toast '

I like my wheat berries soaked for 24 hours, then blended with warm nut mylk to make a porridge. This is good with honey, cinnamon and raisins. For some reason I have trouble digesting sprouted wheat if it is not blended.
What a cheap and easy staple :) . Great when you need something a bit more hearty than the usual fruit/greens, but don't want something as filling as nuts/seeds.

im munching some 36 hour soaked , say 6 hour drained / dried wheat seeds mixed with some tomatoes marinated in garlic and lemon juice / avacado / spring onion / sprinkled with paprika and really like it . its kinda like a salad with a wheat seed base instead of greens , b vitamins / vita e / protein galore . as stated earlier in thread this is 2nd meal of near his recipe . the paprika along with alot of avacado made this one good .

next experiment is ive got the almond milk / banana / carob powder smoothie in blender , im pouring that over a bowl of these soaked wheat seeds . raisins and cinnamon may be added

ps - note to self = increase sit up sets monday , or buy bigger belt :p

well ive found out the hard wheat seeds taste better than the soft wheat seeds to me , the soft seem more starchy .

also im soaking them about 36 hours to get to a chewy state . still havent found a great recipe yet , my initial positive thoughts on the tabouli type dishes have been tempered after eating it several times . its fair but nothingto rave about .
