View Full Version : I've come to realize how "mental" I am about food....

Its quite disturbing!!

Here is my deal I just had a very satisfying breakfast - I chopped up 2 bananas, an apple, and about a half of a pint of strawberries. Put it all in a bowl and ate it work a fork! - NOW if I were to just pick up 2 bananas eat them, them have an apple, and then have strawberries I would not have been satisfied AT ALL. I need my food to look like a "meal".

ALSO - I bring Klean Kanteen's full of green smoothies to work. They don't satisfy me at all - YET when I drink them slowly out of a cup in the morning at home I dont even think about eating anything else, and it will hold me for a couple of hours!

Its like I need to see my food and what I am going to injest all in 1 place together, like I need to see the amount! If I see that it is a lot - im satisfied - If I cannot picture my meal, for example, my bowl of fruit this morning all together - Im not satisfied!

I FEEL LIKE A LOON!

Which just makes me realize how much food and how we normally eat it is such a huge addiction!

Hey, that's alright. You're not a loon. People all over the world put their food into nice bowls/plates/cups, sit down with their friends/family, eat their food slowly and savor it. I totally agree with you that the manner in which we eat our food and how it is presented makes all the difference. We eat with our eyes, too.
In time you may come to be filled up just eating fruits, not a cut up fruit salad. I have. I could eat two apples for breakfast, snack on some berries off the vine for lunch, drink a green smoothie from a kanteen in the evening and be totally satisfied, but this is after being raw for a year. In the beginning I was more like you. And even after being raw for a year, I still really appreciate having my food in plates/bowls, and sitting down with a fork to eat it, when I have the time. I probably always will. It's a part of human culture, in a way. Animals feed, while people dine, eat, feast, snack, have meals etc, the difference being we eat for pleasure, and not just nourishment. Anyway, your food is still just as healthy, whether you cut it up or eat it whole, so just do what you like :) .

I've got the same kind of eating habits. I agree with RS it is human nature, we like to sit and enjoy our food as well...
I've got other hang ups with food now that I'm raw.. I guess it takes a while to adjust.

I agree, things taste better when when they are purty, lol.
