Hello everyone -

I am soooo excited that I got through the first day of my fast with truly no problems at all...doing more for spiritual reasons on my end anyway and health benefits etc are just extra benefits.....trying to keep my spirit in the right mind set...I planned on doing it for only one full day which was yesterday but not sure if I will go for today as well....just going where I feel led with this and don't feel led quite yet to eat something...had some carrot/apple juice yesterday an this morning that I had juiced...

If anyone has any good advice on what direction I should go that would be awesome..maybe some experiences when you first started fasting because this is my second time ever to do one full day - I have done partial ones...I know everyone is different but if you could tell me the experiences and what had happened to you by doing this in your life that would be great..

Thanks everyone!!
Sandy

since you are fasting for spiritual reasons, i don't think this is something you'll find helpful. i've give it a shot anywho.

most people look to fasting for a quick weigtloss which it is, if the proper diet is followed afterwards. so people exercise while fasting hoping doing so will accelerate the weightloss even more. i've done fasting with exercise and no exercise. the same amount of weight was lost. :p so for those who are doing it for weight loss reasons, please rest. :D

you will get some serious deep cleaning, if you rest as much as possible while fasting. this is my personal experience. the downside is you will feel horrible while doing so. the body is taking the cue that "woo! she's resting! we're going to work full force." and while your body is doing that, your energy will pretty much be zapped until a few days after breaking the fast. But the END RESULT is well worth it!

if you can't rest and have to work, i suggest going for light walks. walk very slow. doing so will let your body know that you will need some energy for daily activities. so not all the energy will go towards cleansing, but you just have to do what you have to do. it's better than no cleansing at all.

there's a lot i can say about fasting from my personal experiences. i hope the info. so far has helped. just let me know what specific info. you are looking for. :D

Oai: Thanks so much for that advice - i truly appreciate it. I know people are different, their reasonings are different and their experiences are different - so just wanted to know I guess if they saw different things and changes in their health, spritual life etc..I have noticed a difference in just one day spiritually...

Hope I made sense - fasting is new to me and so far love it and just want to do the right and best way ..so any advice or suggestions or things that worked for you or anyone is awesome to know..

Thank you all so much with this journey with Raw and Fasting - I have come along way since Sept - still just 35 pounds down due to not getting the eating right again for a few weeks after Thanksgiving but man helath and body wise with inches as well has so changed and I get teary eyed when I wrote this...this way of life, board and you all have helped me ..

ahhhh fasting. such bliss! your body (after about 20 days) will come to a place of such bliss!

the days before that can be good and bad LOL depending on the amount of toxins you have to release and the amount of food addiction you have to break.

hmmm... what direction to go? i'm not sure i understand what you are asking... but if you are looking to fast for spiritual reasons... i just recently completed a 12 week fast for spiritual reasons. in my experience (as i've also done shorter fasts 45 days and shorter) the longer the fast the more benefits you receive spiritually.

if you read some of my long fasting threads here... you'll gain soooooooo much info and perspective because i share really honestly and there are so many people who would jump in and fast with me... that you get their sharings as well. very valuable reads IMO.

you can also read my blog... there's a link in my signature. if you look at the links on the right side you'll find some great fasting archived posts but also just reading my 12 week journey and my 45 day journey will gift you an idea of what you can expect. i also have links to the two books i highly recommend for fasting on my blog. you'll see them on the right as well.

congrats on fasting! and welcome welcome welcome. (((hugs)))
