hey michigan roman--
just wondering if you contacted the company and if wheat germ can be really raw? or if "raw" just means "not toasted"...I'd love to know becasue I LOVE the stuff and supplement my dogs food with it, but I was under the impression that when the germ was separated out, the wheat germ was processed in some way. just wondering if you knew.
thanks

hi kb , i cant find the page i read from this farm on an internet search of wheat germ right now . and i cant find it at their above linked products page , but im pretty postive i saw the head guy say that they process it raw then freeze it so as the contained oils dont go rancid . but theyve a contact icon at their site so you could easliy email them . and belows a link from their site to pictures of their farm which made me like it because it seems like a small family run business , and the region looks so clean / natural . link =

I believe I contacted them before & was told their products aren't truly raw. Or at least the nuts and dried fruit aren't. Don't remember the exact response. But maybe the other stuff is...

Well...I DID contact them and this was their reply:
Dear Lucy,
our Wheat germ is not heat treated, it is raw and fresh and needs to be stored in a cool and dry place (refrigerator) to keep it fresh.
I hope this little bit of information will help you.
Thank you for your email and best regards from the farm.

thanx vfl :)
well ive just been refreshing my reading on wheat / its bran / its germ / nutrients , and im realizing that wheat germ is just the wheat seed with the bran and endosperm coatings ground off the inner core of the seed . and when the outer bran / endosperm are ground off the core it opens the core up to dry out and thusly lose its nutrients . thusly im gonna have to make my non scientific / instinctual call here and give wheat germ the heave ho  , its outta here dude ;-)
ide prefer buying the entire seed cheap , like a buck per pound , at my local bulk food joints and soaking them like 24 hours til on verge of sprouting and gnawing on the little rubber duckies :p (theyre rubbery arent they) . i KNOW in this form its MUCH more nutricious than any dried out wheat germ .
and like in years past im once again striving to experiment with the water im soaking the rubber duckies  (new term alert) in in effort to impart a pleasant taste to the little beasties ;-) , such as mexican / italian type sauce spices like tomato / garlic / etc added to the soaking water to spice up the duckies . or , and omg ;-) , cinnamon / dry dates / raisins / apple juice etc type things aiming at a sweet / granola type food .
thats a big 10 4 from the rubber duckie ;-) , ' we got ourselves a convoy " .
sorry i think someone drugged my almond milk this morning dudes :-)
ps - heres a link to explaining wheat germ =

Rubber Duckie, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you;
(woh woh, bee doh!)
Rubber Duckie, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true!
(doo doo doo doooo, doo doo)
Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby!)
Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you.
