Aleesha,
Thanks. I love juicing but sometimes it really wrecks havoc with my stomach - can't stay out of the bathroom! :(

what are you juicing cause that may be your problem. also... you can try watering your juices down.
remember... juice with without pulp, blending is with pulp. that's the only difference. nutritionally they are equal.

I juice mostly apples and carrots. I have also juiced pears, peaches. I have never juiced vegetables I just really love fresh fruit juices.
I usually make smoothies instead of juicing because they fill me up for hours and they help me to not crave sweets.

well it sounds like it's workin' for ya. ;) i see you've been raw for a few years so i'm not sure why juice would upset your bowels.

same for me. :)

Juicing, your body get to absorb the nutriment way faster and it gets in your system quicker. On top you get to have perfect liquid (no hard water). If you eat cook food, or you have been doing raw food for a while, this could be interesting and efficient.
Blending (smoothie), this is consider to be a complete food, because it contains its fiber and the fiber will clean your guts. It helps you to detox slowly and gradually. If you do raw food and start doing raw food, it is much preferable of not juicing but doing a gradual detox meaning using the whole food with its fiber. If you detox too quickly and if you do have some stone, they could get lose and you may end up with a surgery. Your body, will melt those stones gradually and smoothie will do this for you. If you have a very poor health, and you want to catch up just a little bit and feed your body, you can have some juice but just don't get carry away and switch back to smoothie.
I am not a professional doctor and you should do more research with that.
They are both good, this depend of your need. I like green smoothies, love vegetable juice. I have been raw for two years almost. I think you should try to go with your body. If juice is appealing with you, go for it, if your body respond better with smoothies, then go with the blending.
Best wishes!

Going to Raw.....juicing is straight, into your system, usability. For fast detoxxing, for very very sick people, and for instant bliss and energy.
Smoothies are whole and blended for easier usage by the body. They hold you longer in a day as they are heavier.A bit more work for body to do.
Both have a place. My body wanted smoothies for the first year of raw.All of a sudden,no more.I didnt listen and was unhappy.Because I thought I "should: want smoothies every morning.
Gratefully my body wanted something even better, juice. So I do mostly juice. When I smoothie its too much for me. On occaision I do. But I am still getting my greens daily and thats super.
Oh and sometimes I make smoothies without fruit but add spices n such and warm it in the dehy and call it energy soup!!! YUM YUM
Hoppy juicing/blending to you sweet.

Which is best and why?
blending is better than juice extracting due to the fact that you are missing out on some of the vital enzymes that are in the skins and pulp that you throw out when using your juice extractor

and if you have a good enough blender you can juice or make smoothies with it

There was a meeting early last year at The Hippocrates Institute in Florida and the raw gurus prepared a list of the things that raw foodists should do.
One thing on the list was juicing.
They did not mention blending.

This was not a program prepared by the institute. That was just the venue for the forum. It was not geared towards cancer or any other disease. It was general guidelines for raw foodists.

OK, thanks a lot. Right now I am in love with the smoothies. I have juiced before....JuiceMan Products........I always felt I was throwing most of my nutrients away. Guess the simple answer is the answer. Tried blueberries, orange, strawberry, and apple. It was delicious, I am headed back to Sprouts for more blueberries.....................

Fruits are just too cute to pulverize! ;)
I only juice vegetables, primarily because I am practicing food combining. I add sweetness and liquid from carrots and cucumbers (which, is technically a fruit I know but alkaline).

Juicing / Blending ... I agree with earlier post: do what works for you at the time. when I first went raw, I did a lot of juice .. then a couple of years ago, I started craving smoothies. So I did a green smoothie every morning. Loved them. Didn't do a lot of juicing during this period. Lately, I've been craving juice, and not really wanting the smoothie ... so am back to juicing (veggies and fruits). So, listen to your body.
Right now, all the pulp goes to my worms (in my worm farm).

A nutritionally oriented doctor put me on a 28 day cleansing diet which
included both, blending and juicing. I have an Acme since 1990, which
I maintain and adjust, and know will out live me. Either way, blending
or juicing you're way ahead of the Standard American Diet.
