View Full Version : What do you eat for breakfast?

For some reason I don't like fruit in the morning, except for smoothies. I ate raw potatos, asparagus, with tomatos and half an avocado, plus raw almonds and my stomach is cramping so badly.
I would like to keep the avocado and tomato for breakfast along with a fruit/veggie smoothie, but I want something else to add on my plate besides the avocado and tomato that won't upset my stomach but will help me become satiate where I won't crave food for lunch much.
My idea was to eat a huge breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner.

I love starting my day with a green smoothie. Holds be to lunch time. A handful of almonds or a wedge of avocado works if I get too hungry before then, though. Lunch is usually my biggest, most complex meal of the day.
Sounds like you have your meal order right on track. I've heard it said, "Breakfast of a king; lunch of a prince; dinner of a pauper."

Well, if I have a big breakfast then I won't crave to snack much, especially when out.
I am just looking for breakfast vegetable. For some reason I feel weird eating salad for breakfast.

I usually have green juice or a green smoothie for breakfast, but every once in a while I crave a salad and have it. My favorite morning salad is heirloom greens with the Alissa's pad thai sauce on it. I sometimes add WF fresh mango pineapple salsa on it.
I love the almond butter in the pad thai sauce.

I normally will have a liquid breakfast either green lemonade or a green smoothie. Those will normally tide me over atleast 4 years.
The green lemonade is from Natalia Rose's book- Detox diet
If you have a juicer- juice these:
1 large head of romaine lettuce or 1 large head of celery
2 apples - I like fuji (organic)
1 organic lemon- peel and all
1 inch of raw organic ginger

I often have green soup for breakfast because it's savory not sweet, and filling. You can either eat it like a soup or drink it. I never liked breakfast foods much and will eat whatever I want. There's nothing wrong with salad for breakfast if you want it. You can use the avocado and tomato in a salad if you want or a wrap.

i usually have hot tea or fresh brewed coffee ( yes not raw but i love it) and about an ounce or 2 of lovely dried fruit from raw from the farm.
quick, easy and satisfying.

I went through a month-long "salad phase" where I would eat a huge rommaine lettuce salad with a dressing of olive oil and lemon juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went through so much organic rommaine lettuce at this point that it was rediculous (and expensive). I would eat three-four heads of lettuce per day. This was very cleansing/healing and also tasted delicious to me at the time.
Now I do much less salad and more fruits, because that is what feels good now.
If you want salad for breakfast, go ahead and eat it! There is nothing "weird" about it at all. What does a deer eat for breakfast? Probably grass or some other leafy green. It's much more weird to eat donuts for breakfast - no animal in nature does that.

Adding protein to your morning meal will help to stabilize your blood sugar better, and allow you get through until lunch without getting hungry too early.
I began adding hemp protein powder to my morning fruit smoothie and I have found that I have to literally make myself sit down and eat my salad for lunch, because it will be rounding 1:30 and I'm still not that hungry. :)
Edit: This is the one I am using, which is raw & organic (and not too expensive)!

I think I found my perfect breakfast.
soaked barley, 1/2 cup
half a tomato chopped
half an avocado chopped
one green onion
salt
garlic
chili peppers
maybe, substitute the avocado for some chopped spinach.
I just felt like I need something gritty for breakfast that fruit nor veggies were giving me, since I associate veggies with lunch and dinner food. The barley seems "breakfasty" to me. And it does not upset my stomach like hard crunchy veggies for the morning.

Ok, I never eat exactly the same thing, but I do have my favs. :p
This morning, I had a raw brownie. LOL Only raw peoples!
But my normal fav breakfast is one of these two:
1)pineapple cream/banana/strawberry/blueberry smoothie
2)Ani Phyo's raw pancakes with raspberries on top
I wake up hungry most days, so, breakfast is very important to me! Glad to hear you found something yummy to add to your own breakfast!

Maybe it was the combination of foods that your body didn't appreciate. Raw potato juice has been used to heal stomach ulcers, so actually, that was probably a good choice!

Something I love for breakfast is rawnola with chopped apple and almond milk. My favorite rawnola is to mix a bag of Glaser Farms www.glaserorganicfarms.com raw granola with Lydias www.lydiasorganics.com raw granola. Yummy.
I usually eat this after my walk/workout....Otherwise breakfast is a smoothie with almonds, hempseed, flaxseed, maca and fruit. :)

Hi Rawstrength! It was local to me before, so I created the habit, but just moved to Columbus OH where I can't find it local yet so I'm in the same boat as you. Let's keep wading through the coconut water and we'll find it! Or...we can figure out how to make it ourselves : ) PItaya

I tend to be a "grazer" so I have a smoothie before work and then later around 10 I have either a raw bar or a piece of fruit. Occaisionally I will have leftovers for breakfast (like Not Potato Salad or a carrot salad) for breakfast.

I just had a tangerine and am now scarfing down one of the juiciest sweetest mouthwatering piece of pinapple I probably ever had! That said I try to go over in my mind my options while going off to sleep the night before and then when I get up I decide which of those sounds the best. Sometimes a smoothie sometimes fresh fruit or juice. Alot of times I will have just a little something and then have more of a brunch around 10 as I got in the bad habit of not eating breakfast. Of course I am still new to this and it is a work in progress to see what is best.

--either chopped apple, bananas, occasionally a pear, or even sometimes a bit of everything in a bowl, with berries, soaked almonds and flaxseed all blended together (so its like a yoghurt texture) over the top.--sometimes i'll have chopped fruit, flaxseed and chopped soaked almonds together so its like a granola type thing--or just a piece of fruit
i love my breakfast, especially the 1st one

For me it's different all time. Sometimes I have a green smoothie, some kind of juice, soaked oat groats, grawnola w/nut milk (or just plain), a piece of fruit or just a big bowl of about 4 clementines. It all depends on how hungry I am.
I'd like to experiment with making pancakes and cinnamon rolls at some point too.

hey what kind of potatoes are you using ? a lot of rawveagans don't eat peanuts or potatoes because of the poisioness of alikiline in them , that might be what is causing your cramps . try some brocilii or peas with your original mix with some flax seed gravy:)

1/2 a cup raw ground flax seed
1/2 the juice of lemon or lime
spices of your taste
1/2 a blender of warm water (no higher than 115 degrees)
throw everything in the blender and process till smooth and creamy. pour over vegatables and use chopsticks for fun

Raw potatoes doesn't sound appetizing, I didn't think you are suppose to eat raw potato i am not saying i am right, i suppose perhaps one can.

The wonderful thing about being a grownup is you can eat WHAT you want - WHEN you want (more often than not)
